  1. Just no. It would be an overpay for either one. By the way, that means we would be paying much more than their worth to the team. Either in dollars or years.
  2. Because they’re in the business of making money, not players. Player’s are just a commodity for revenue generation.
  3. This just in: Twin’s trade for Chris Davis! We will control him through his age 51 season!!!
  4. Pivot #5: Roll with what we have. They’re not going to (and shouldn’t) spend money just to spend. Like it or not, it’s time to rebuild until there is a glimmer of hope that the window is opening again. It’s slammed shut with a big drift blocking it now.
  5. The roster is pretty much set. They’re not (and shouldn’t) sign Rodon to a 7 year contract. Anyone below that is a marginal upgrade at best. Sign a reliever or two and an outfielder.
  6. How good will his pop time and throwing out runners be when Twins insist he point his left leg at third base every pitch? Should improve his low strike stealing though…
  7. Yankees don’t want a $8M outfielder who can’t hit.
  8. No. In Kepler they would get no hitting help.
  9. Last minute is right before upgrade acquisitions run out. That is different every year.
  10. I doubt the Astros take a step back. I could see the starting pitching taking a step forward. Certainly better than last year. Considering we don’t know if Kiriloff will ever play again and Larnach’s history of injuries and not really having shown he belongs, this seems highly unlikely. Miranda could also sophomore slump. ( that’s probably more likely) I think Duran staying healthy is 50/50 Jeffers being an all star or even a legit MLB catcher is VERY unlikely
  11. I like the creativity.
  12. “The Twins still have plenty of confidence in Ryan Jeffers“. Why?
  13. “The Twins have depth in the outfield with Larnach, Kirilloff, Celestino, Wallner, Garlick and technically Gordon. “. There is not a single player on this list that either doesn’t come with an injury history or has never proved they belong. Even though it’s only one year, I’ll give you Gordon. The rest are flyer prospects at this point.
  14. This either prices the Twins out or raises the price/years too high to be tenable. I believe it also puts Swanson out of reach. Twins should concentrate on a Kepler replacement, some bullpen help and a starting catcher.
  15. This is a very rare thing to happen. Draft lotteries have not been kind to Minnesota.
  16. Nope. Defensive analytics get WAY too much value. Especially in a position where most teams hide defensive liabilities.
  17. JUST like last year.
  18. Except he’s not the backup to Buxton. Celestino or some unknown poor replacement is inserted instead. Also, how many times did Max bat cleanup last year? (Forty Seven!?!?!). It’s getting to the point that getting him gone is the only way to take these bad decisions out of Rocco’s hands. How many bad hitters can the Twins “hide” in their lineup?
  19. Who are these “handful” of proven position guys??? Polanco maybe, but I believe he’s in decline. Buxton plus whomever= an average CF. I’m having a really hard time coming up with a second “proven” guy, let alone a handful.
  20. I’d give them Kepler, Pagán and Arraez.
  21. C: Ryan Jeffers 1B: Alex Kirilloff 2B: Jorge Polanco 3B: Jose Miranda SS: Kyle Farmer LF: Trevor Larnach CF: Byron Buxton RF: Max Kepler DH: Luis Arraez Jeffers isn’t a MLB hitter. Kiriloff may never play again. Polanco is in decline both O and D. Miranda solid O, average D. Farmer will be fine. Larnach has injury history and has never proven he belongs. Buxton is Buxton, but CF is average with Celestino backing up 2/3 of games. Kepler is a 5th OF defensive replacement type player. Arraez will be ok if he’s here. Five large question marks out of starting nine. Getting to .500 will be very difficult. I would say impossible with this lineup.
  22. I look at it more as production from CF. He has to play enough healthy games in CF to counteract the negative WAR his replacements give us. Otherwise, we’re getting average production over the season as a whole.
  23. This signing also puts a little pressure on Correa et al, as the Twins are demonstrating they have a back up plan.
