  1. Lewis and Julien initially popped into my head. Hopefully in a few years it'll be Lewis and Lee. They could be a great combo for many years.
  2. That trade seems pretty bad. Unless you are trying to clear out 40 man roster spots, I am not sure why you'd want to do that trade. I'm not sure I'd want to send Farmer straight up for Grisham, let alone toss in prospects. I think Martin could hit .198 in his sleep if we aren't trying to force him to hit 15 dingers a year.
  3. I think it makes a lot of sense, but I don't see that being feasible unless the Twins unload Polanco and Kepler. I think if we were to shed payroll, add Hoskins, and make some trades for starting pitching we would be in very good shape for 2024.
  4. It's nice trying to put a positive spin on a crappy situation. We are a mid-market team currently spending like a mid-market team. Dropping payroll so we can spend like a lower market team will not improve us. Instead of signing to supplement out roster we are talking trades and prospects. It only takes a few trades to deplete what we once thought was a strong farm system. It may work for a year or two, but I don't see it ending with a long run of success. Here's hoping we don't have another good year followed by 4 down years replenishment our farm system.
  5. I think that is the most accurate assessment too. If he's valued at 20 to 25 million, picking up his contract for 10 mil and trading him would be the best option. A team that would sign him for 20 mil, I would think, would see that 10 mil savings as a nice benefit.
  6. I think Taylor has done a good job this year. I am fine bringing back Taylor and Castro or going with some form of Castro, Gordan, Buxton, and Martin for 2024. If you could squeak through 2024 with that group, hopefully 2025 will be Emmanual Rodriguez time. I think he will be the CF for the foreseeable future. I also would not be opposed to looking into trades of Larnach/Wallner for a backup CF option. I don't see those two outperforming Walker Jenkins in the future. Either way the future will be bright when Rodriguez, Jenkins, and Lee are on the horizon!
  7. By most accounts, this was a 5 player draft and we had pick 5. If the Twins come out of this draft signing everyone but the consensus top 5 pick, it'll be a giant failure. If you need the signing bonus money to sign Jenkins and player 19 and 20 are left unsigned, you do it.
  8. Looks like the key was Cubs pitching.
  9. AK, Lewis, Lee..... Hopefully someone!
  10. Why did you have to bring Lopez into the conversation! Now we all have to find some wood to knock on!
  11. Those 40 to 50 at bats could be all Lee needs before being called up to the MLB club! I would bet my paycheck Lee's rookie season will be better than Solano's age 35 season.
  12. It seems like the F.O. goal of raising the organizational talent floor is starting to pay off. I hope both become good MLBers! Thinking back 10 to 15 years it would have been crazy to be arguing if a guy with Adams pitch mix and velocity would be a top 30 prospect.
  13. Headrick is more of a soft tosser than Adams. Maybe he makes a move to the pen, picks up a few more mph, and really becomes something special. Hopefully he has a long successful Twins career
  14. I'd also lean to hot radar guns. It's too early in spring training for most of them to be ramped up to max velo anyway.
  15. Looks good on paper. If we can get a little luck with our health, I think the Twins will be fine this year.
  16. I think at the end of the day, it was the best trade that was available. I don't think the Twins wanted to trade Arraez for Lopez. I think they would have preferred a trade centered around Kepler. I think there is no interest in Kepler and other than the Marlins, minimal interest in Arraez. I'd rather have another solid number 3 starter than an slap hitting 1st baseman. We are acting like Arraez was Tony Gwynn or Rod Carew. He's had very good half season's and then his output declines with the wear and tear of the season.
  17. You must not have watched the last two months of the season. Arraez didn't strike out... But also didn't do anything else. He squeaked his way into a batting title because Judge couldn't buy a home run or hit either.
  18. It was the right move. Arraez has been known to be on the block for at least a month. If there was a better trade, they would have done that. I am sure most front offices would not be willing to give up a lot for a guy with bat to ball skills and no power. We need Arraez to pass his physical. Miami hopefully doesn't get buyers remorse before then. I am sure Miami could fail his physical and then it would be next to impossible to get anything of value down the line.
  19. Did you see what Berrios did last year? -.5 WAR, 5.23 ERA, with only 149 strikeouts in 172 innings. Something is either wrong with him or he had serious decline. Not worth paying 120 million for. I loved Berrios, but we may have dodged a bullet. Arraez is the same. He has two knees ready to explode at any moment. We get mad at the Twins for trying to flip assets, but on the other hand, we rail on them for keeping players that we pay for being injured.
  20. It would be interesting to know what could be had with Arreaz and Kepler in a trade. I think Arraez will still be on the team. He could be the DH and hope his knees hold up better.
  21. I can't believe that we have an all-star caliber shortstop locked up for at least 6 years. This could make our infield incredibly good in a year. I'm having visions of Lee at 3rd, Correa at S.S., Lewis at 2nd, and Miranda at 1st.
  22. No. Just say no. I'd rather have resigned Astudillo to be our 5th starter.
  23. Hopefully it works for him with the Twins or another team. I wonder if he wasn't struggling with arm issues we'll before he needed T.J.
  24. But with our luck, after the 4th claim...he'll be Liam Hendricks.
