  1. How would he be replaced on the active roster
  2. I would not trade Farmer. If they did, what are the chances that the return would help the team this coming year? Also, who would replace his role on the roster? Lewis? He already has a position. Lee? Not even on the 40 man and likely won’t be when they break camp. Gordon? No thanks.
  3. I think Polanco and his 10.5 million contract as the opening day 2nd baseman is a way better option than any of the others you listed. Castro and Farmer are great bench players. Martin, Prato and Lee will find their way to majors when it is time. Gordon is a non tender candidate as he has no spot on the 26 and is out of options.
  4. Could they both be starting if the Twins would be facing a lefty starter in game 1? The Astros Valdez looks like a real possibility.
  5. Injuries aside, really the only decisions to make are: Who gets the third start. Who is last bench player, assuming Solano, Farmer, Castro, Vasquez are shoe in’s. And the backend of the bullpen, behind Duran, Thielbar, Pagan, Jax and Varland. I vote for Maeda, Stevenson, Stewart, Funderburk and Floro. But reserve the right to change my mind 😊
  6. And just like that, due to a bad start from Ryan and a good one from Maeda. Ryan goes from the solid #3 starter to possibly not making the wild card roster.
  7. He has a nice year, but not Cy Young material. May not even finish top 5.
  8. How about in the 9th inning with Solano or Castro?
  9. If he is so bad that Castro or Ludlow are your starting left fielders does he add any value to the bench?
  10. You forgot to mention Sano’s defensive abilities.
  11. I sense there will be a lot of disappointment tomorrow if Gallo isn’t DFA’d and is the starting center fielder tomorrow night.
  12. I can’t decide which was worse. Floro’s performance or Rocco’s decision to use him clinging to a one run lead in the sixth inning when of the rest of the bullpen was “fresh”. What is he, The 5th best bullpen option at best?
  13. The bullpen is the biggest crapshoot on this team. Right now Pagan and Thielbar look like the only reliable options and they would have both been cut many times over by most who post on this site.
  14. Gordon and Miranda don’t even look like options for the active roster this year anymore to me. Kiriloff and Buxton need to get healthy and than stay healthy for the duration, neither of which can be counted on at this point.
  15. Do you really think that is a possibility?? I don’t. There are 3 or 4 that seem to be nursing injuries, I would think using the 10 day to get someone healthy would be a better choice.
  16. Why can’t Polanco and EJ handle 2b and Dh for now? Solano could at least share first base with Gallo, but how healthy is he right now?
  17. Who would you play at 1b in his place? And please don’t say EJ, as I think he is playing regularly already.
  18. I understand the frustration with him, but what exactly were the expectations?? He is a powerful left handed bat that strikes out too much while providing good defense at several positions. He manned LF until Wallner was deemed ready and now is mainly playing 1b because AK is hurt again. There may be a time yet that he is cut loose, but I don’t think today is that day.
  19. For the remainder of this year, I would prefer to see Julien only at 2b or Dh. A position change in 2024 might make sense, but there are several factors to consider first.
  20. Maybe apologizing is going too far, but I will probably agree that the Twins best options to try to win the division and maybe even a playoff game is with Max in right field and Pagan as a bullpen option.
  21. I haven’t watched every inning of every game, but based on my observation, any metric that suggests Miranda is a better fielder than Urshela currently, should be discarded immediately.
  22. Weird how things work out. A few short months ago there were many opinions demanding Miranda to be playing in the majors and some suggesting Lewis was a wash out. Now, many are ready to give up on Miranda and believe Lewis is a sure bet.
  23. I think the bullpen has the potential to be very good, even without Rogers. The only real question is (and it is a rather big one), who can get the last outs of the game.
  24. Or it could mean that they wanted to trade Rogers because he was in the last year of his contract and they probably were not going to resign him. And that they felt that Garver was going to have to get moved from catcher to stay healthy. And they were able to get pieces in return that they liked.
