  1. Hopefully, their breakup will be more amicable than Dean and Jerry.
  2. Yeah, but is that a good thing?
  3. Berrios is 6 or 7 years younger than Donaldson, and has never missed a start. Donaldson, on the other hand, has chronic calf issues, and has spent a lot of time on the IL. Even when in the lineup, he's often hobbling on the basepaths.
  4. There may be more at play than $. Age and probability of injury, obviously. For all his mentoring skills and work ethic, who knows if there was friction between Donaldson and significant unknowns. Only speculating, but possibly a factor as well.
  5. Yeah, I'd like to think that the Kiner-Falefa trade (which I like) is just a piece of the puzzle. I believe that there will be a significant pitching acquisition(s), way more than likely by trade.
  6. Garver will be missed, but I like that the Twins are getting younger and faster.
  7. Man of steel....Zach Granite Greatest attribute has got to be the name?
  8. Carew won SEVEN batting titles as a Twin. I think we can let him slide. And speaking of sliding, he did a lot of that too...like into the plate when he was stealing home. 7 TIMES in one season...sheesh!
  9. The other side of that coin would be Eric Davis. Healthy and productive earlier in his career, and then somewhat derailed in the second half, a la Buxton I think it is , to some extent, random. There's really only one way to go on the injury front with Buxton, and that's up. His migraines are one thing I'd be concerned about. That said, I'm betting on his cashing in on some of those incentives. Only time will tell.
  10. At first I thought I read "Twins Inked Cy Young winner Robbie Ray" Alas , it was merely "linked to". Wishful thinking. I'm still on my Buxton high?
  11. Wow. My day just got so much better! Kinda stunned. I was SURE he was gone. Going to get more details on the signing, but man, this is just awesome news. A generational talent? I think so. Cheers, everyone.
  12. Also, a no brainer for the Twin's hall of "shame on us".
  13. He's in on his post season stats alone. A no brainer.
  14. Ain't it the truth! Hard to hear Braves fans chanting "Ed-die, Ed-die", though. But it WAS exciting. He is a likeable, entertaining, and talented (when focused) baseball player.
  15. The Twins screwed Buxton on service time a few years ago. Ever since then, I've doubted he'd remain in Minnesota. I'm hoping that he remains a Twin next year, or at least til the trade deadline. Why would he not want to test the market? Just gonna enjoy him this weekend.
  16. Elvis said (sang) it best. Don't be cruel.....
  17. Totally agree. I've noticed that whenever there is a meeting on the mound, Polanco keeps his mouth shut. This is hardly an indictment. He is a valuable team member, but his leadership , I think, is by example.
  18. Yeah, seems to me there have been a number of these. The coffin is hermetically sealed, yet they continue to hammer in nails. That said, hope for the future.
  19. Funny stuff! Nice segue into the 2nd half.
  20. Great group photo! Is that a JD lookalike in the Grand Drunk Railroad T-shirt? Sure looks like Donaldson.
  21. Thanks, as always, for the week in review, Nick. You didn't mention Donaldson. Wonder if he might be moved, or shopped? Guess it's goodbye to Messieurs Cruz and Simmons. Kepler interesting as a sleeper candidate, as you say. I hope, and actually believe, that Berrios will finish this season as a Twin. The team can compete again next year, at least in theory.
  22. Wonder what the average length of double header games is at 7 innings? I enjoyed last night's game. Well played and crisp.
