  1. If you take out their worst starts, Paddack has a 2.53 ERA to Obers 2.55 ERA. both have been ace level outside of 1 bad start pushing their ERA into the low 4s.
  2. Its May 12th and Carlos Correa is on pace for 0 GIDP after getting 30 last year and leading the league.
  3. We are still paying Margot 4 million so I suspect we are giving him a longer leash to see if he can get back on track. He is not a great hitter to begin with. I just hope a change is made by July if he doesn’t get on track quickly.
  4. If he can play a little 2B we can replace farmer with him this season and Santana next season.
  5. Tp help lower the click bate articles maybe not have so many being done on a daily basis. maybe some days just have the game rehash available and that way in a day or two 4 articles can come out that are better written. and then 2 or three more days with game rehash or an article here or there and then a good 3-4 article day....... basically, we don't need 3-4 articles a day if it's just click bate due to limited topics. and it doesn't have to be a consistent and same number of articles every day either. the negative tone from articles too. occasionally is fine. regularly is not. Why don't we hear from John Bonnes. Seth and other owners very often anymore. I thought we would still get some articles from them. Nick Nelson still writes good articles. I like the idea of adding baseball related emoji's to the mix like the dead horse, but also a homerun, or great catch, or a crowd wave..... or even making a library of memes we can easily reference into comments. Making it obvious when an article is for caretakers on the site so you don't read a partial article and be left wondering....
  6. If Ballys stops making their payments to the Twins since Comcast took them off air, and the Twins need to pare payroll as a result, then the correct answer is whoever they can trade including Vazquez and Kepler added to the list too. based on performance it’s Margot. Jackson hasn’t pitched bad enough to be let go. Everyone else has a value with the team. Farmer has hit 5 for his last 12 AB. if he hits like normal the rest of the season (,250 Average) and ends up with 250 AB. his average will remain low all year and end up just over .200 but he will still be a useful player moving forward. I am more disappointed that he wasn't considered good enough to play SS as I thought that was the main reason to keep him last winter.
  7. It seems that the Twins 8 man bullpen is 11 or 12 relievers deep. I like that! Whats the hierarchy of the next in line to come up relievers like Bowman, Staumont, Winder, Wittigen? And I’m sure I’m forgetting someone…..
  8. Nick you make some good points like Margot not being trusted in CF and Farmer not being trusted at SS but have you ever seen the Angels play? They are a team that goes and signs the big name and doesn’t have money left in the budget for depth. Comparing the two teams the Twins made the right call. The bench is performing at the far and wrong end of their bell curve of possible outcomes. I sure hope that evens out some. Last week it seems to against less good competition. On the good news side of things, Correa should be back any day as is Duran and Topa. Farmer will get a little more time to make a splash to keep his roster spot until LEwis comes back. Miranda is hitting like he wants to stay here. Santana should also be on notice with Miranda playing well. But I think things are evening out and it’s a matter of time before Cleveland’s offense slows and our picks it up a notch. We are back to 4th in the league in HRs.

  12. 26 games into the season Cole Sands is on pace to pitch 72 2/3 innings giving up 37 hits 6 Earned Runs 12 walks and 100 strikeouts.
  13. If we are going to convert a reliever to a starter we should try it with a pitcher less likely to get injured like Jax or Sands. But looking at our rotation it’s fine right now. Woods-Richardson is off to a solid start and if he can keep it up or atleast keep a sub 4.00 era he is fine there. Paddack is struggling as can be expected Ober has a 1.5 ERA in his last 4 starts throwing 24 innings. Ryan has a 3.45 ERA and Lopez is a little off but he ain’t going anywhere. I am not following our minors much, how is our AAA rotation doing? I wouldn’t touch Duran’s role in the pen.
  14. The Twins also saved 5.25 million in payroll and immediately signed Carlos Santana to play 1B. I imagine that should factor into the return as well. I wonder if this deal was pre arranged before the trade and we can either say he was indirectly a part of the trade return as his salary definitely is. And Santana bat is starting to heat up after a slow start.
  15. So if he goes down just long enough for the Twins to keep him an extra year……
  16. Don't forget the legend of Rich Becker. He had a 92 run season in 96 with 31 2Bs and 12 HRs and 19 SBs. not too shaby.
  17. I think that what Nick is saying in using the xwOBA stat is that it shows the odds of improvement moving forward a very high if he continues to hit the way he has thus far. more of his line drives will find holes and we will have better results. statistically this is accurate thus a good point.
  18. Lewis did say it was more of a cramp than a strain and he is already feeling better. He still had an MRI and we will know more today. Hopefully we dodged a bullet and he just needs another day or two. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/03/injury-notes-twins-e-rod-dodgers-jackson.html
  19. Great, now I’m going to root for this guy I’ve never heard of before and hope he has a long MLB career
  20. Well if the pitcher who throws 104 is only throwing 101 at this point of the season that is significantly less torque and he should be able to handle that lower level of stress on his body.
  21. I agree the Twins are looking for market in efficiency. Maeda elbow was deemed a prime candidate for tommy John surgery when he came over from Japan. That is how the Dodgers signed him to the 3 million guarantee with 10 million per year incentives. He was moved to the pen to save on the incentives. The Twins did well in this injury acquisition. Mahle was returning from a dead arm / tired shoulder when we traded for him. He seemed fine otherwise. That is why the high cost in prospects he wasn’t deemed the big injury risk. He just got hurt. The Twins won the Pineda signing and that became a new trend thus taking away the inefficiency bonus we got. Gray was just a straight up trade. And with what I read in the papers it seemed the Mariners were trying to trade prospects for Polanco but the Twins publicly said any trade would have to help the current team. I bet that is how Descafani ant Topa ended up in the trade. The Mariners were probably trying to trade other prospects while Minnesota was trying to trade for one of their better young starters. The trade we got looks like a compromise to get a deal done. I think the Twins were hoping for 10-20 starts before he went down. Everyone is complaining that the Twins haven’t developed pitching but don’t take into account how much 2020 hurt development. It happened right at a pivotal point. Enlow among others missed a key season of development. The pitching pipeline seems to be filling now as we have quite a few pitching prospects at AA and AAA this season. I for one am happy with the job this front office did this offseason with the resources they had.
  22. New revenue streams will also help. Probably more than new owners. Maybe you can focus on helping the Twins generate an extra 60-80-100 million a season so they can add to payroll.
  23. The Twins led the AL in HRs last season. I think they tied for the lead but whatever. They lost Gallo and Taylor and traded Polanco from their totals and added Margot and Santana. The Twins should still hit over 200 HRs as a team and be a top 5 HR hitting team in the AL.
  24. Here is how I would rank our rotation in terms of durability. 1 Varland. I think he could handle 180-200 innings. He has shown to be durable. The question with him, will his ERA be around 4 so he can pitch those innings or 5+ and spend time in AAA. 2. Lopez. He can also pitch 180-200 innings 3. Ober. He seems to be in the 160-180 range 4. Ryan. He also seems to be in the 160-180 range 5. Paddack. He is coming back from injury so expect 120-140 innings we can work in depth options from here. If we have another major injury, we have more prospect trade capital to go get a starter if need be.
  25. I don’t think Lorenzen would sign for less than 8 million. I think he could get 10 million on a 1 year deal. It’s the 2nd year he wants that is killing his market.
