  1. The Pirates are a half game out of the playoff race. They may still be willing to do a low wattage move for a prospect. I have a feeling they want to try to compete for that last wild card spot if they can. More likely is what can they get from us that doesn't cost anything. Taylor is the only player I could see them moving to the Twins if the Twins were willing to deal for him. Maybe they could swap bullpen arms if there was someone each team would like from the others pen. I just don't see The Twins being very active this trade deadline.
  2. They are only trading Kepler if they are giving up on the season. They will only owe 4-5 million for the rest of the season and they will make that back if they make the playoffs. I’m sure the Twins would love to lower payroll more with the loss of TV revenue so early in the season. But they also don’t want to lower their odds of making the playoffs either. I see them standing pat or maybe a small depth move or two. I don’t see the Twins doing much because of how terrible the other veterans with salaries are doing this year outside of Correa and Buxton (Buxton on defense). I guess Santana has some sort of value and could be salary dumped. If Farmer goes on a tear maybe he could be salary dumped.
  3. So do we the fans, care about the almighty dollar, or we would pay the extra whatever to just move on and watch the Twins.
  4. This team is worthy of a deep playoff run. especially if we trade for top stars.
  5. JD Martinez is the better target. his salary is less, and he will cost less prospects and we could probably get the Mets to throw in some cast to balance out the cash difference. I imagine the Twins are not adding payroll if they are not getting money for the television games.
  6. So far this season, Alonso isn’t a big enough upgrade for the cost to acquire. I’m sure there will be better buys by the trade deadline.
  7. I also want to point out the Twins have only used 6 starting pitchers this season so far. Very few minor injuries on the pitching staff other than the injured pitcher we acquired hurt.
  8. If Oakland is trading a rookie reliever for prospects I would go so far as to trade the OF we got from Seattle, Raya, and maybe Cole Sands for Miller tops.
  9. For a short IL stint the Twins could bring up Festa or Dobnak with the idea of going to the bullpen after a few innings and practically making the missed start a bullpen game. If the IL stint is timed right he would only miss a start.
  10. I fully agree with this statement on Bundy. He was a solid pitcher for the price paid. He led the team in starts and I think innings pitched. Unless Berrios beat him. He wasn’t great but was also on a 1 year deal. if your talking about free agent contracts under Falvine leadership then what about the Addison Reed contract.
  11. Right. I didn’t say May 1, I said his last 36 or so AB. I checked a few days ago from his lowest point of the season he went on an 11 for 36 run with 6 doubles. That was a few days ago and I don’t know how many AB he has since.
  12. Farmer started the season in a horrible slump. He went on a 11 for 36 run. I don’t know if he has more AB since I last checked. He also hit 5 or 6 doubles in those 36 AB. He is picking up his numbers and it’s going to take time. Farmer is having a Tale of Two Seasons kind of year. I doubt the Twins drop him at this point. If he goes back into another slump maybe. We will see
  13. What if he is that good? He’s been pitching that good. Maybe he is a sub 3.00 ERA pitcher. You never know. Stinking thinking can be self defeating.
  14. Since starting the season 3 for 47, Farmer is 11 for 36 since his season opening slump and has 6 doubles too in that time (a .306 BA and .472 Slg%). I hope he can get his average over .200 soon as I am sure that will be a relief for him to see.
  15. At this point I can see Martin being the next Marwin Gonzales. In that he will play all over the place as the 10th player and get near full time status and be a speed guy who doesn't hit much but gets on base just enough to use his speed and score some runs similar to Nick Punto. There is value to the team in this. Especially during his low-cost years. If his defense improves and or he can get his bat to the 95 to 105 OPS+ range he will be plenty valuable as a backup getting 400 or so ABs a season. I am not sure I rank him 4th either at this time. but at the rate Martin is going he will graduate from this list on the next update. I think Woods-Richardson should rank higher as he is actually reaching his potential as a number 3 starter and is younger than Martin. If Woods-Richardson keeps his ERA under 4.00 then Varland may need to switch to the pen to get a shot at staying up here long term. I am glad we are finally seeing a return at the big-league level on the Berrios trade. Since I still hate seeing one of my all-time favorite pitchers being dealt I hope both these guys outperform what I have written about them above.
  16. I was going to say this.
  17. I think it’s because Preilipp’s injury was factored into the initial ranking where the others injuries are just now being considered due to recency of the injuries.
  18. So how does this work. we have Pablo for 3 more years after this one. Ober has 3 more seasons too after this one. Same with Ryan....3 more seasons Paddack has through next season. He may be arbitration eligible one more season. if Woods-Richardson keeps his spot in the rotation. He has 6 more season after this one before he is eligible for free agency I think. so Festa and Varland need injuries or to pitch in the pen to get opportunities.
  19. Santana is on pace for 28 HRs and 85 RBIs. With good defense at 1B. Not bad for 5.625 million. on the pitching side it seems like the pitchers are all pitching like aces except one appearance where they give up too many runs in an outing where Rocco refuses to remove a pitcher until too much damage is done.
  20. If you go to Angels Stadium you will see Torii Hunter, Bert Blyleven, Dean Chance, Rod Carew as all time great Angels.
  21. I don't think the other teams have the kind of depth the Twins do to protect from having injured players. I think a key injury or two will torpedo the competition over the long haul.
  22. Jax is a good development, Brock, Thielbar was a good find. I think they helped in that development as well. Cole Sands is making huge strides this year and Simeon Woods-Richardson too. Lopez made huge strides after joining the Twins last year. There is development going on. some at the major league level and some at the minor league level.
