Cavaco was released by the Twins and signed with Astros to try pitching. He pitched two games before being released by the Twins. I guess they didn’t see enough to develop him.

Simeon Woods Richardson is Chasing Down Marty Cordova
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Woods-Richardson is definitely making me feel better about the Berrios trade. I sure wasn't happy when he was traded. still not. He was one of my favorite players. Martin looks like he will be a useful 4th OF. But Woods-Richardson being a low-cost impact starter has lots of value. Looks like the rotation will be pretty stable the next 4 seasons with Lopez, Ryan, Ober, and Woods-Richardson all locked up and Paddack through next season.- 35 replies

I think if we go big we should go after a player like JD Martinez. He is on a 1 year 12 million contract and is a great hitter. I don't think he is a great OF by any means but could play 20-30 games there maybe 10 at 1B and the rest at DH. If we can include Margot in the trade. we offset more of the salary. If we could include both farmer and Margot the salary gain would be so minimal. I wonder what we would have to give the Mets to get him? In the second half of the season he could hit .280/.350/.520 with 15-20 HRs which would be a nice addition to the lineup. (and he is actually hitting around that so far this season)

1. Maeda hasn’t been good this year so clearly the Twins were right to let him walk. 2. They were not going to pay Gray no matter what. But Woods Richardson has been a nice find also Paddack has been successful mostly. He has 2 starts with 16 earned runs in which skew his season. I get critiques and that’s fine. Complain about not getting 1 starter this offseason. They did a good job of shoring up around that.

I think the Fire Dan Gladden meant to say damit injuries. These injuries are keeping our team from being more competitive. With injuries to Buxton and Correa and Lewis and early season slumps from Julien, Farmer, Velazquez, and Varland. We haven’t been as competitive as we should be. I doubt the front office would do much more if they had the budget anyways as there wasn’t many holes to fill on the team last offseason. Bench and bullpen and maybe resign Gray if possible. I’m not sure what else could’ve been done. A higher budget would have us resigning Taylor instead of trading for Margot. Maybe we don’t trade Polanco. Not sure what else was on the table. But early slumps which have ended and injuries sure took a toll on our competitiveness.

I think if Jax wants to move back to the rotation, he’s earned a chance to try. Hard to see that with Minnesota unless Varland goes to the pen and is successful there so Jax can go to the rotation. But Jax is entering his arbitration years and as a top reliever he will have good earning power. Compared to others like Lugo or Montgomery. They were solid middle relievers who could earn 5-8 million a season in the pen. I’m sure if Jax keeps having his results will make 10+ million a year soon.

I Still Believe in Aaron Sabato (And You Should, Too!)
Brandon replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Sabato is this generation’s version of Dave McCarty. -
If Lewis has 15-16 HRs by the All Star break I’m sure he’ll get in. Some one will ask out and he will take their place. I think the sample size of stats for this season is too small. Get him to 120 ABs with a .320+ average and 16+ HRs and tell me how he doesn’t get in?

I wonder how the shrinking revenue from TV will affect contracts moving forward. Not just for the Twins but industry wide. To me this makes it harder to peg a good contract for him. I have him at 3-4 years at 12-15 million per season contract value. If we can extend him in that 10 million per season range he is worth considering for an extension, for his age 28-31 seasons. I am not sure how much room we have in the budget going forward. I wonder if the Twins will scale payroll back more next year. Attendance is terrible and the TV contract isn’t paying from what I can see. from Castro’s perspective, I bet he is really happy here and would be willing to sign an extension. He was let go by Detroit and has that experience in his mind. Why mess with a good thing if he gets paid?

Carlos Santana the All-Star is Closer Than You Think
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You talked about Guerrero and mentioned 2 others. I guess I was expecting you to compare them to Santana. Instead of just linking them. I’m sorry.. you did a great job building the case on how Santana deserves a shot based on him vs Guerrero but just links to two others.- 33 replies

Carlos Santana the All-Star is Closer Than You Think
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What are the other 1B doing? What are the top contenders numbers compared to Santanas? I think on our list of potential all stars is maybe Ryan and Jax with Correa and Jeffers as candidates on the position player side and Santana is on the periphery of the list of those deserving a spot. He is definitely making his contract with the team a bargain.- 33 replies

Who Says No To The Athletic's Proposed Twins Trade For Alonso - I DO!
Brandon commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
If the Mets paid the remainder of Alonso’s contract, I can see this trade if we didn’t already have Miranda and Santana playing a solid 1B. But isn’t LF and backup C where our lineup has the most issues right now? -
Tough Decision Time for the Twins
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We should totally release Farmer at this point for slumping in April. On April 26th he had a .285 OPS. Since then he is at .796. It is the middle of June so we should absolutely release a player for how they did 2 months ago no consideration whatsoever should be given for his play since the slump ended 2 months ago.- 77 replies

A Couple of Suitors Definitely Miss Carlos Correa Now
Brandon replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am confident the Twins are happy with how his contract played out seeing as how they guaranteed him less money with less years, but with options to reach 10 years and still less money. But the way to view this contract is the Twins are paying Correa to produce at or near 4 WAR per season. I imagine as the contract ages it may go to 3.5 WAR or 3 WAR a season, and even less in the option years (this statement is not factoring changing TV revenues). after saying all of this, even with how Correa is performing now, I don't think it would be smart to lock him up for 12-14 years like the Mets and Giants were initially doing. I do think Correa should have negotiated more incentives into his Twins option years of his contract. but otherwise, I think he got a fair deal. And I do agree with Ted that as of today both the Mets and Giants and almost every other team for that matter would love to have Correa on their team.- 54 replies

Lewis is tied for 4th place on the team in HRs with 7 in only 41 ABs. Also he is averaging a HR every 6.833 ABs or you can say he has a .171 HR batting average (HR / AB instead of H/AB for average calculation).
-
I would like to apply for this position. I will gladly promote the front office for a salary. I’ll even push ticket sales and merchandise and try to set up expensive events at Target Field.
-
What make taking Lewis an even safer pick was that he agreed to a below slot deal that allowed them to draft a late first round talent in the third round and go over slot to sign him. If Enlow was able to make it to the show and contribute for the Twins, taking Lewis first overall is what made that possible.

on April 26 Farmer was 3 hits in 47 AB with 1 2B and 6 BB and 2HBP for a line of .064 / .200 / .085 for a .285 OPS since he is 17 for 57 with 7 2bs and 4 BB and 3 HBP for a line of .298 / .375 / .421 for an OPS of .796 Seems to me like he is hitting pretty good overall since he ended his slump on April 26th to me.

I doubt it. Farmer has gone from a .044 average to a .192 average. he is back on track and needs more time to get his average back up. If he is released now its because of what happened in April. Being that its June that would be silly.
