With our rotation set for the next three seasons and 4 seasons from now we could still have SWR, Festa and possibly Matthews as developed starters that would give us almost 2 more years of likely rotation stability. It makes sense to take a group of high school pitchers now to develop over time and soon college pitchers so that a large number of pitchers are ready when we start having holes in the rotation again.

At least we have the Cease rumor to vicariously live through. Getting him would give us the best rotation in MLB. That is pretty exciting. And that’s about it on the transaction side of things.

3 Potential Twins Trades for the Padres' Dylan Cease
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He costs near the league minimum and he can be a 3-4 starter. He was that for the Twins last year. That is very valuable, especially to a team that is past their budget with several holes to fill. My trade proposal fills three of their 4 holes for even cost. All they would need is a DH. We have Castillo for LF till ERod is ready. And several potential backup Catchers already, so my trade doesn’t hurt the Twins much.- 88 replies

3 Potential Twins Trades for the Padres' Dylan Cease
Brandon replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would think Larnarch, Woods-Richardson and Vazquez would be more than enough as we get out of Vazquez contract and replace Cease with a low cost starter who can compete. We might need a low level prospect back in the deal too to balance things and Larnarch is a low cost Profar replacement in LF.- 88 replies

Should The Twins Be Investing In The Rotation?
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think a rotation of Lopez, Cease, Ryan, Ober, Festa would be a crazy good rotation for the season and probably the best in the league. If the Twins could trade Vazquez, Woods-Richardson and any number of prospects to even out the trade and maybe 2-3 million cash to help SD cut 5 million-6 million in payroll in the trade and get a low cost starter and a prospect Twins get Ace level pitcher for rotation. I think the Twins could sell more tickets with that move. Get a RH OF / 1B who can hit ok and that is a winning offseason for a team that didn’t need much to begin with this offseason.- 107 replies

Wallner was omitted from the list in the article. after 3 season Ober, Ryan and Lopez are free agents. Festa will probably replace one of them. If we replace the other one or two who leave then the competitive window stays open. Good starting pitching is the key. Also need to find a good SS to take over for Correa at some point too. But we already have young offensive players who will be here 4-6 more seasons and more on the way. In conclusion we will be competitive forever😎

The Minnesota Twins Are Active In the Trade Market
Brandon replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
If not SWR then likely Festa. That would make sense to me as Festa has a high ceiling. -
I just had to say this was a great response. Like reading an article.

My quote is figurative. Last season even though he had a 4.9 era he pitched much better than that other than one really bad start and I think his last start before shutting down. You take out his worst two appearances and he was in the 3.s for era. So he could do that for a full season if he can avoid being injured

I could see many former players chipping in 5-10 million to have a minority stake in the team. I doubt they are looking for a former player to dump over 100 - 150 million or so into ownership of the team to get them to the 10% ownership level giving them a bigger interest in the team's success. and we wouldn't want that anyways as that could hinder the team from going all in if a former player has gone all in with his wealth on ownership.

There were two catchers who signed this offseason for around 8.5 million that were just as valuable as Vazquez last season. If Vazquez fits perfectly into the Twins plan as a defensive C he is probably worth more to them than the rest of the League. and since the argument is he is worth half what he is being paid. and if he is well liked on the team and the payroll crunch is this season. why not do this. sign him to a 2 year 8 million extension. (4 million per year) then restructure the contract so he gets paid 5 or 6 million this year instead of 10 with adding money on the back end of the deal. make the contract something like 6 million in year one, 6.5 million in year 2 and 7 million in year 3. that way we spread out the overpayment over 3 years instead of 1. and while payroll is the biggest crunch this year, he has the lowest salary.

I'm torn on trading Paddack. on one hand we get Festa as the 5th starter and developing further in the majors. On the other hand we have less depth. I feel like Paddack is good for 130 innings this season at a below 4.00 era which is a value at 7.5 million. back to the first hand, I guess the 7.5 million saved is important and this is the area to do that.

I doubt the new Twins owners move on from Falvey. I do think Our manager is on the hot seat. But the Twins overall are historically better then the Twins have been over their cumulative history under Falvey. The Minnesota Twins overall have a below .500 record and have a .519 win % under Falvey. 620-574. I think he will still be here after the Twins are sold. I wonder what they could do with a 180 million payroll.

Wouldn't finding a way to avoid a second half collapse be a more important thing to be concerned about since we had 2 of those in the last 4 or 5 seasons now.

5 Burning Questions Facing the 2025 Twins Bullpen
Brandon replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Canterino, Preilipp, Varland, Duarte, and Henriquez oh and Blewett should all be ready to contribute. The more I look at our pen options the less likely our rule 5 pick sticks. Or he won’t have a long Leash. This depth is what really makes our pen so good.- 49 replies

Trade Idea Framework .... Help even it out....
Brandon commented on Brandon's blog entry in Blog Brandon
I didnt research this. I just say that Hoskins was making 17 - 18 million for one more year and thought hey i know the team is looking for a first basemen. here is a possible solution. though i dont think it works without prospects and cash being included. I was thinking Milwaukee could use a back end starter. I couldnt tell about a back up C. and I figured if there was a good enough prospect or two in the deal we would get a 1B with some cash to ultimately lower payroll. I didnt think any farther then that which is why i posted here for others with more time to research and comment. -
Here is a trade Idea How about trading Vazquez and Paddack and a prospect to the Brewers for Rhys Hoskins and 5-7 million to help lower payroll. There is a savings of 10 and 7.5 million in the two players and with cash back the Twins save money net after taking on Hoskins 18 million The Brewers get a back up C, and back end starter but we would likely need to send a prospect or two to even things out but what do you think. is there a potential deal here or is a back up C and starting pitcher and prospect not worth Hoskins.

Comparing AL Central Rosters: Part 3 (Starting Pitchers)
Brandon replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Each teams 6-8 starters should be rated but given less weight as that can be a separator. Festa is the wildcard for the Twins rotation if he pitches 160 - 180 innings across 32 starts he could have near ace level results and put our rotation over the top. But KC gets a nod over the Twins but the Twins have a good rotation too and our bullpen vs Kansas City is night and day. Detroit is really lacking in quality at the back end of the rotation. Cleveland’s rotation was not good last year so I’m not sure how they are close to Twins quality rotation. Chicago is starting over and it seems they have decent prospects to start over soon.- 14 replies

What Is Carlos Correa's Mindset Right Now?
Brandon replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think if he has any issues it would have shown up last offseason when ownership announced the payroll reduction. He is probably relieved the Twins haven’t traded Paddack or Vazquez. This gives our team more depth for this season and the offseason is not over yet. The Twins don’t have many needs and haven’t missed out on many solutions either as most would be too pricey anyways. With the way the sale is moving forward and the speed and certainty that a deal can get done, I don’t think the Twins need to offload salary. I think Correa is focused on doing his part and is likely relieved the sale is almost complete with the hope the Twins do what’s necessary next offseason to build a championship roster. -
Ober was drafted and developed. Woods-Richardson was traded for and developed, Festa was drafted and developed. That’s pretty good. But wait there’s more Mathew’s was drafted and developed a little further down and Lewis and Morris and Adams were all developed by the Twins and are all at AA or AAA meaning almost ready. Varland was drafted too but will likely end up in the pen.
