  1. Oh boy...I am behind the times......the Brewers already DID give him the extension! Possibly up to 10 years. That is a lot of money committed to any player who really hasn't even played in AAA yet. This seems to be an unforced error.......
  2. Jackson Chourio....VERY solid numbers his first two years in the minor leagues.......but let's calm down about signing him to a 6-8+ year deal now, when the Brewers still have many years of team control.........
  3. Valley is right.....they can find an "all defensive" catcher for 1-2M and will provide us the same production at the plate as we got out of Vazquez last year.
  4. Hard to put Joe Ryan in this conversation. He is a #4 starter on a championship team........
  5. I don't see Gordon and Castro being on the same team. Castro is 2-3 years younger than Gordon and I would argue Castro's 2023 season was BETTER...than Gordon's "breakout" year in 2022.
  6. Hmmm.....it would be nice to know how these catcher's defense compares to lets say...Jeffers. But......it seems like at least one or two (or more) will have a bat that can translates to the big leagues!
  7. Salas is already 20 years old and eligible for rule 5? My hopes for him are starting to fade. :-(
  8. Especially with the potential payroll issues we might/will have this year, several of these prospects HAVE to be inserted into the line-up.
  9. Polanco should be traded now...while there is value. Farmer....not sure you can get anything for him at this point. Kepler....may need to keep him now based on emergency centerfield availability.
  10. Probably deserves a "yawn," but an upgrade from Akil Baddoo...from either side of the plate......
  11. Which we all know....he isn't considering. Which we all know....no one EVER considered if they thought they could get paid.
  12. The original point is that Alonso is as much of an option as Aaron Judge.....he is NOT an option. I threw Judge in so you could recognize that he is NOT an option for the Twins. 28 year old who hit 86 home runs the last two years....not an option. If you trade Polanco....then Julien has a free run at 2nd base. These things don't happen in a vacuum......
  13. No better option than Alonso or Aaron Judge...but we are not getting them.....so no reason to discuss them. Julien.....yes because you are not pushing him down the the "defensive spectrum" (AT ALL) with Polanco at 2nd. Kiriloff, if healthy, is also better than a 36-37 yr old Goldschmidt. I would even say Miranda, Brooks Lee, (and yes,) Lewis...... would all be better options.....for a FRACTION of the price! Just helping you out as to why those three are NOT options for the Twins next year......
  14. 1. Right now Ryan can be a solid #4-5 starter on a good team. 2. There is almost always the expectation that a younger pitcher can move up from a #4 starter to a #2 starter. 3. I think his high, 92mph fastball is not going to translate into anything more than a #4-5 starter. 4 Going to Driveline will hopefully add speed to that fastball 5 The splits after the groin injury have me encouraged that he can be more than a #4-5 starter!
  15. I think Ryan's ERA will always hover around 4.5 because his high fastball at 92mph is NOT a force to be reckoned with. A solid number 4 or 5 pitcher in a good rotation appears to be his up-side.
  16. You missed my point. Goldschmidt...we have better options internally...... and Aaron Judge and Alonso.......we are not getting them. :)
  17. Alonso is 28 years old and hit 46 home runs....not even worth mentioning as a Twin's option to pay him what he will get. Might as well throw in Aaron Judge......LOL! Goldschmidt is 36 yrs old(?).....I would much rather have Julien, Kiriloff, or Wallner play the position (1st base or DH.)
  18. HUH? It was iffy if Lewis was even going to be on the playoff roster against Toronto.......
  19. Every spring Sano would show up at spring training and the story was that he put on muscle and lost 10 lbs.....until after 5-6 years....he was 60 lbs heavier! LOL!
  20. First base and DH are the two easiest positions to replace "internally" on the cheap.....and be just as productive as the two guys you have mentioned. It rarely makes sense! Find me another Nelson Cruz.......we can talk.
  21. There is no trade value......he isn't going anywhere. How are Carmargo's defense skills viewed (anyone have any insight?)
  22. Huh? He would free up a spot on the 40 man roster...for us to be able to protect another prospect who otherwise might get taken in the Rule 5 draft.
  23. I agree they probably would not get help for the upcoming year....but an added bonus of trading him for a prospect is that it opens up another spot on the 40-man roster.
  24. Good, "one stop spot" to put all of this information together....TY Cody!
