  1. Arraez an all-star level performer at 1st base....not really. Which is why Miami is probably playing journeyman Garret Cooper there this year. It just reinforces the fact that 1st base is one of the easier positions to "plug a guy in" if needed........
  2. The pitching in the KBO is probably similar to AA ball (without the top-end MPH.) Unfortunately, I don't know that this is something a person can simply "adjust" to.
  3. Agree Nick....this is why we shouldn't be too disappointed in a .500 record for the Saints this year.
  4. I'm sorry, I still watch Akil Baddoo's box scores and hope that he doesn't do very well. Is that a bad thing? And fortunately (for me,) he hasn't done well.......
  5. Three guys would need to get hurt for him to have a shot this Spring......praying that won't happen!
  6. Confirmations that the pitching staff for St Paul is not all-star caliber...which a lot of TD thinks they will be......
  7. Not predictions but.....confirmations....... ****************** terrydactyls 22 hours ago, miracleb said: Predictions for an entire team formulated from one inning each by two different pitchers from a very early spring training game?
  8. I think Buxton had some kind of hip injury (from running?) but otherwise a bulk of his time missed was due to hitting the wall or getting hit by a pitch. I think he is different from Mauer (or any catcher for that matter.)
  9. Varland and SWR in yesterday's game is why I think the Saints will be a .500 team. Give them some time...you can't expect them to be AAA all-star caliber yet.....which seems to be what a lot of TD is thinking.....
  10. Ober will start the season with the big club (if he is healthy.) I don't know that the starters at AAA will be as impressive as we are hoping. I can easily see the Saints being a .500 team.......
  11. Hmmmm.....Against lefties: "Last year he slashed just .235/.291/.320 against them. Not a ringing endorsement as to how we are going to go after lefties in 2023......
  12. We are WAY premature on Roni right now. He needs a couple of years at AA ball. He will probably go to AAA to start but if he doesn't find success by the end of the year, AA is in his future. Right now, it is hard to project him as a major league ball player......let's give him a couple more years before we start analyzing starter verses relief pitcher.......
  13. Actually....I see Solano leading off against lefties now......which is still obviously a weakness.......
  14. Very sad....but Gordon is probably one of the best options to lead-off against right-handed pitchers. Baldelli might try again to force Kepler there (HOW can that make sense?) Verses lefties...Gallo..... with his 200 batting average?? I'm afraid this is going to be a weak spot for the Twins all year. :(
  15. He was top ten among left handed relievers in several pitching categories. And every reliever is a couple homeruns away from drastically different results. ******************************* Top ten in several categories doesn't make him one of the most dominant left-handed relievers in all of baseball.........LOL!
  16. Agree....there is no downside because we had Lewis to move to the disabled list anyhow. Santana can easily be dropped if something better comes along. But looking at his stats.....it is hard to believe his is still pitching professionally....... let alone getting a major league "shot."
  17. Agree.....Gray! (Of course....we need to get all of these guys TO the start of the regular season.....)
  18. Not a good start to Spring training for Megill....but let's see how he does in his 4-5th outings. The nice thing is he will be one of the only guys who can say his ERA dropped the REST of Spring training......
  19. Since his return to the Twins, Thielbar has turned himself into one of the most dominant left-handed relievers in all of baseball. ****************************************** That comment is a little aggressive. He was basically a couple of homeruns away from a 4.0 ERA last year would then be "on the bubble" to make the team this year. I don't know how realistic it is for Caleb to have another 3.5 ERA this year. I am hopeful that he does!
  20. Lefty/righty match ups will be the name of the game. This gives Rocco more flexibility in "resting" guys....which I like. Of course, screw flexibility, if you can find Nelson Cruz again.....
  21. I think this will sort itself out. He either starts putting it together and the Twins put him on the 40-man.....or.....he continues to struggle and no other team will grab him in the Rule-5 draft. He would REALLY need to put it all together to force the Twins to put him on the 40-man roster. Even after a "solid" season....no other team is going to take him and put him on their bench without a solid defensive position established. Don't fret on this one! :)
  22. Might be hard to call him a game changer. Getting Burnes from Milwaukee would be a game changer. Expecting more than 3/4 of what he was prior to the injury is probably the best we can ask for.
