  1. Although I don't see DH being an option for him (too many "better bats" that will be chosen ahead of him,) but I also enjoy seeing him moving around the field!
  2. If Lewis hit as poorly as Vasquez last year, we wouldn't be talking about his enthusiasm or leadership. His best attributes are that he is looking like the #3 batter in the Twins order for the next 6-7 years +. I do like the Aramis Ramirez comparison. Looking at Ramirez's numbers, I feel like I should know more about him (than I do) because he had a 10+ year stretch that was basically awesome!
  3. I might be in the minority......but I still have confidence in giving Larnach 450 at bats this year.....
  4. Bingo...the key there is the word "fail." They are not drafting with the hopes that they "fail." They are drafting (in the 2nd round) to get a guy who can be an All-star type player, Of course, that doesn't always happen. But that doesn't change the reason WHY they drafted a player in the 2nd round! :-)
  5. My point was that they are not looking for a "classic utility infielder" when drafting in the 2nd round. That is just common sense. It seems like you are slowing coming around to this (above) with your "Of course not....."
  6. Trust me, when the Twins draft a first or second round pick, they are not hoping that they just might contribute a little bit to the major league team. That might be the ultimate result....but that is NOT the goal when they are drafting in the 2nd round. That might be the goal when they are drafting in the 10th round........but certainly not in the 2nd round.
  7. Just a "contributor" is NOT what you WANT from a 2nd round pick. You WANT that from an occasional 10th round pick.
  8. You are right....which is NOT what you want out of a 2nd round pick......
  9. From what I am reading, the Twins are planning on DeSclafani being their #5 starter......which I am not opposed to. Based on injuries, we need a few more of these type of players.....but certainly not with this price tag. (unless the other team is paying a big chunk of the salary!) :)
  10. Pass on Pham....we have internal options for all position players....especially if we are looking to save money. (or not spend MORE money.)
  11. Love these type of articles Jamie! Agree....a catcher AND centerfielder? I watched the video......those legs look like a.......catcher!! :)
  12. I think it is crazy that these kids are only getting 145-180 at bats per year. Obviously they are taking batting practice, etc.....but why not find a way to get them 400 at bats ........when they are 17-18 years old.....
  13. This was a funny line.....but true. Seems like 2nd base is where shortstops go to die if they can't cut it anymore. Carlos will have a home at 2nd base in 3-4 years (with his arm....maybe 3rd base.....) Other than 1st base, it is one of the easiest positions for a team to fill. Not sure that drafting 2nd basemen is a good plan. Hopefully, his glove can transition elsewhere......if his bat can "force" him into the line-up! :)
  14. Agree! Sano actually had a decent on-base percentage because he also was able to draw a walk once in a while as well. Probably too much baggage for the Twins....but I would have like the Twins to sign him....especially to a minor league deal!
  15. And Thompson is behind all of them...and also on the 40-man......that was the point! :)
  16. Look at both of the AAA seasons last year..........it's Kiersey who had the better year and frankly the increasingly BETTER years. I don't have a problem with adding Thompson if you can sneak him through and take him off the 40-man. I also don't want him keeping Kiersey from getting an opportunity.
  17. Give me DaShawn Robert Keirsey Jr.......over Thompson.
  18. I like DaShawn Robert Keirsey Jr. career path ahead of Thompson's....... if one of them had to play for the Twins in 2024!
  19. Agree! Now the Twins will not do this.....but his defense is similar to Vasquez's defense and I would argue by the end of the season his hitting numbers would be comparable or better than Vasquez's in 2024.......for 10 million LESS! (but it would hurt Cardenas' development....yada, yada, yada.....)
  20. I would struggle with Simeon Woods Richardson to be anywhere near the most underrated category. We have had high hopes and huge OVERrating on him the past couple of years. Based on last year, he is closer to not being in baseball in two years ......verses being underrated..... We want him to succeed even more..... because he was part of the Berrios trade......but it might be time to get a little more realistic regarding him. :(
  21. LOL! Cody mentioned this in the first sentence(as far as the "new money" is concerned): "With money presumably coming soon from a new regional broadcasting deal, could this right-handed hitting power bat be the Twins' signature offseason signing?"
