    Doing net research w/game on radio -- Caribbean trip to Lesser Antilles in Jan for anniversary prior to the Winter trip to Arizona to chase college/HS hardball/softball. Recommendations on islands accepted.

    Couple of thoughts. We both know the passing reference to TWms was about the last hitter to bat .400. Nothing more. Two different eras. No one was throwing 100+ to Williams. Advantage then came with a higher mound rather than present speed off lower mound. Agree on the long season and his knees. I am rooting for him.

    Haven't seen him play but have followed the downside of his defense thru posts here on TD. Listened to Wed game on radio and announcer talked about his unorthodox movement to reach flies but makes the play nonetheless. I think we will soon see it.

    I was saddened to see Arraez go but didn't mind knowing how badly the Twins needed pitching. I for one can't object in hindsight. I never could have anticipated Arraez doing his best Ted Williams impression. I might though, have anticipated the Twins doing their best collective takeoff of Miguel Sano. But then again, I don't get paid the big bucks for doing so unlike our Northeastern/PA college educated dual FO lads. <Audible sigh>.

    Replace Popkins w/anyone within the Twins MiLB system who has some gray hair. Yesterday. Have Joe Maddon seen flying into MSP airport, going to the Pohlad office, walking thru the departments, waltzes right past the secretary into St Peter's office, just drops in to the clubhouse to say hello to a couple of the ballplayers he knows. Have him fly back out of town. Gets Baldelli's attention.

    Not I. Francona will guide the Cleve club into 1st (youngest team in MLB by long shot). I had the Twins at 79-82 and I think that will be about right. Hinch will challenge his young club into 2nd with the WSox and Twins swinging from the heels for 3rd place.

    Ditto here. I can not imagine trying to go laterally, hit a ball, or dig out of the box with it. He's hurting. Put him on IL today, rest thru post A/S game, run Farmer and Lewis at short. Get him rested and out of the top of the lineup.

    Loved it! Nice job. While I delight in baseball, when I attend Cedar Rapids games, I am struck most by local culture -- the politeness and civility of everyone, fans, vendors, staff; slow pace of crowd; low prices of everything compared to Target field; the general ambience. It can be embraced. Visit before Americana goes away. Will be going down for round 3 visit to CR Vets Memorial Stadium this summer and end up somewhere East on the river for a diversion afterwards. Best logo in MiLB.

    Nonsense. They HAVE regressed to their abilities. What, they are 21-30 since May IIRC. Perkins isn't using stats correctly. It's like suggesting that the Oakland A's will win the AL West and teams will all end up 8l-81.

    I have lived in 10 metro areas. I have never seen less assertive writers than I have seen here. Needn't be rude but for heaven's sake, who has asked one hard question of bench mgr or FO office on the very issues we are raising here? Only Reusse does it from a rhetorical, sarcastic distance where the Twins needn't even respond. Weak sports press. Get Chip Scoggins into the FO and the clubhouse.

    I looked at their lineup on Tues eve. BAs and OPS. I shuddered and closed game day. Statcast, not Dickens: BA: Atl, .270, 2nd Twins .231, 25th OPS: All, .827 (first) Twins, .706 (21st)

    0-18 in last two games w/runners in scoring position. If this were an anomaly, I could live with it. But how often must this occur before there is responsibility assigned and accountability dealt with? Inexcusable.

    I used to listen to almost all the games. Now, I begin with the Twins but often shop MLB radio for another game -- a specific pitcher, favorite broadcasters or team matchup -- when the Twins start tanking a game or putting on their K-show. I keep GameDay on the Twins game to keep an eye on the boxscore.

    Changed that dial to KC/Cleve. Tito was not feeling well, KC staff attended him, and he was taken to the hospital. No further details. History is GI and blood-clotting.

    He is a filler in low leverage situations at best. Please don't use valuable in the same sentence with 'Pagan.' Misuse of stats to justify baggage. Same stuff Rocco does. Long relief needs to be consistent, predictable. Those are antonyms, not synonyms, of Pagan.

    I want to see what he has left in the tank and how crafty he might have become. I never have seen him pitch live and wish to add the notch to my belt. I called in to the Saints business office asking when Keuchel would be pitching. She said, "Hold and let me see if I can find out." About 5 minutes later, "Consensus over here seems to be Saturday nite, Gwinnett. But you know I can't guarantee that?" I said, "You tell Gardenhire I am getting box seats and if Keuchel isn't on the mound, I am coming down after the pig." Professional management/courtesy of an unusual request. ✔︎ Food truck rally and fireworks to follow. We live too well.
