  1. The video on MLB.com shows some black muck on his pants, at his hip, clear as the gray hair on me head. https://www.mlb.com/news/domingo-german-ejected-after-substance-check
  2. Cubs hitting .270 (3rd), Twins .218 (30th). Wow. The spell will be lifted from the Twins bats this weekend and go on to higher heights, beginning today. Vegas agrees with me, at least for today's game. Ryan will tame those Cub bats.
  3. Sorry, can't agree that it was "the right trade." Giving up prospects out of a desperate need for an arm is never going to work. You have no leverage. You end up with that guy with a previously reported injured arm. Falvey came over as "a guy who knows pitching." His failure has been in the drafting/development (or lack thereof) of arms within the system. A good development system within the minors is the "right trade" that hadn't been done in Falvey's six years that left the Twins in such a ominous predicament.
  4. Gladden interviewed him post game. Classy guy. One of those midwestern understaters. He had no idea that the HR was the longest of his career. Imagine taking one in the jaw and coming back w/HR and an HBP. Gent has cajones. Made me a fan. He didn't take long to become a Minnesotan. "Fer shure," 3 times. Mowing the lawn, but I think that makes him 0-25 for last bats. Big hurt.
  5. Herb Score (Cleve), pitcher, mid-50s, hit in the eye by a line drive off Doug McDougald's bat. Remember it.
  6. Look for me up in the Vets' seat, 319. Cedar Rapids Kernels hat.
  7. though I share your opinion, Bro' Baldelli doesn't. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/padres-vs-twins/2023/05/10/718224/preview
  8. I was manely thinking of the guy who came out of the marsh.
  9. 1-2. Going to Thurs game to watch Ober beat Darvish. I listen to some Padres games late at night. I love to see a roster with a commitment of $1.2 billion (after '24 season) scuffling in 3rd place. Same goes for: Mets can't get traction either, playing .500 ball. And the Yanks in the basement of toughest division in baseball.
  10. Far from respectable in my assessment: Team is hitting:BA Avg: .220, dead last of 30 MLB teamsOBP: .300, 28th placeOPS: .689, 21st, one place above Oakland.A Francona's team should never be counted out. I would like to see Hinch continue to light a fire under the his Tigers. The more competitive those two teams are, the better the Twins will play. Chicago is hopeless so maybe it wasn't all LaRussa. KC is young and needs time.
  11. I am a fan of baseball first and the Twins second. What is bothersome is that they don't seem competitive. I can live with a loss but the spunk, the spirit, the energy demonstrated seems to be lacking. I listen to Oakland games at night. They are horrible but the effort is there. That is all I seek when I sit down to listen.
  12. Ah, but where to put him to get those reps? Brutal at 3B (career .950 IMSM). Farmer returning. Lewis right behind him. Kirilloff on 1B. Buxton tying up DH.
  13. Weather Cleveland, OH Feels Like 56*
  14. The image which immediately popped into my head was hands on the tossed bat, topping one another to the knob to determine who got first pick of our motley, non-uniformed assembled group. "Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end..." Where did they go?
  15. I claim no prowess in pitching, but the few times I have seen him, he relies strictly on upper body/arm for strength. No lower body put into the throw. Wouldn't he be better served in technique by incorporating those big thighs and long legs into his delivery?
  16. I expect the owners to manage this behind closed doors this winter. Game is being diminished.
  17. Glad I caught some radio booth in the past with him doing color.
  18. At least his name isn't Sanchez.
  19. Makes you wonder what the Reds knew?
  20. Sergio Romo is scheduled in the Giants radio booth in Mexico Series against the Padres, KNBR. Expect just one of those "during inning" interviews. 11 HRs in yesterday's game. Lamont Wade, SF, (.245) homered off Darvish as the first batter of the game. Nelson Cruz, SD, (.317) tripled to deep center in the 2nd.
  21. Pederson? Not sure I want to add him to a seemingly balanced clubhouse. Has always struck me as a bit of a clown and a large ego. Would his personality help or hinder? Unsure.
  22. I can't wait for the draft!! Number 40 on your charts is from my alma mater! Go Owls!
  23. I have experienced the same delays. I listen with GameDay up on one tab and the broadcast on another. The delay is always at least one batter behind. Ads are so loud I silence them as they are much, much too loud. And betting ads? Enough already. MLB is not taking the long view on taking money from gambling ad revenue. This is going to end up biting MLB right in the butt. Short term gain for inevitable long term scandal. That is pure non-sense. The technology is there. Fix it. Good grief. Thanks for the timely article, A radio baseball listener for 70+ years.
  24. Rooker took Ohtani deep in the A's game today. 7 HRs in 18 games; 18 RBIs. .300/ .481 /.800 Go A's.
