    Amen. Create the mess? Just like when we were kids. You spilled the cereal. Learn to clean it up. On the right occasions, work out of jam. That is where managerial decisions are made. Does he have it today? That is not statistically based. Next time he won't nibbled so much, won't throw so many sliders, won't come inside with him, and on and on.

Instead, let us enjoy having Mr. Baldelli as the Twins' manager for as long as possible...." Enjoy Baldelli and the FO. Not. Too data driven. Just finished Joe Madden's book in which he argues that data IS critical, but it must be tempered by judgement, what's going on w/a player at that moment, how well the pitcher's ball is moving and his control at that moment, and "gut." Gut relates to the innate use of a manager's own mental algorithms (which we all employ daily) -- a hire which you make at the office; how to interact w/your children in critical situations; how best to manage, influence, lead, work with a team at work etc. The book cites studies which support integrating "gut" (experience, relationships, context, senses). It isn't all data.

    Don't want to hear this one. Beyond the injury issues, not interested in adding to the clubhouse, someone who cuts up the issued uniform in front of teammates so the team can't wear assigned uniform of the day.

Tourneys galore. Saw Valenzuela pitch at Corbett when he was 19 for the Merida Mexican team against Cleveland (their former home during Spring). As well, women's softball and tourneys. $5. Love it. Magnificent stadium. 3,000. https://arizonawildcats.com/sports/2013/4/18/208232704.aspx From there, will chase the highest seeds in HS ball throughout the state.. Oh, World Baseball Classic in Phoenix, mid March: USA, Mex, Colombia, Canada. Chase Field. In June, headed to Calif for A's, Sacramento (AAA), Single A: San Jose, Visalia, San Bernardino, Angels in Orange County and what would be a trip without a visit to oldest stadium west of the Mississippi, Dodger Stadium. Saddle up!

    Saw SWR at St Paul, not Twins, and watched him closely. His delivery is all upper body/arm driven. Amazed that no one on the minor coaching staff hasn't had him work on using his legs in his pitching. Use them for linear energy/velocity and save the arm. Saw Verlander come back from TJ Surg and his thighs had increased in size. Wise old man.

    Loved, loved, loved it. Will spend my $5 game price in Arizona for two months, watching Div I ball and women's softball tourneys and then hopping in car and watching the best HS ball in the state for...free. See, there is a benny to being as old as Methuselah.

    Framing: The graphics are impressive but graphics just like statistics can be wrong. On what basis is the strike zone established for the data? BaseballSavant, ESPN, etc do NOT adjust the strike zone between batters. Umps do so appropriately.

    Very well written, Nick. Sano? He became history when I read an article by Mike Berardino (oh how I miss him), if memory serves me, stated that he observed Sano entering the clubhouse and unlike other players, he didn't even go to the board to see who he was hitting against that day. Couldn't be bothered. Couldn't sit down with the coaches and find out what the guy had or how he might approach it. Kissed him goodbye then and there. Attitude. Both Sano and then subsequently, me.

    Years ago, I worked for, let's say "Generic Hospital." The organization spent a gazillion $ on consultants and rebranding. Expectations were high. Want to know what they came up with? "The Generic Hospital." Fell flat.
