  1. Gardening. Have Blue Jays radio on.

They no longer travel w/the team. Unreal. Ben Wagner does an excellent job on PBP. They have some statistician doing "color," with no discussion of the game -- just overwhelming listener w/stats.  Enough. Have to revert to middle innings w/GladMan.

Wagner graduated from the next high school over from where I live.

Sorry for the errant message. Was intended for the boards (grins).

  2. I saw it in Wed game. Toronto radio booth said he threw one at 97 mph.
  3. I have a cardiologist who can fix you up with a Medtronic pacemaker like mine.
  4. I had just about turned the dial to Dodgers game. Lopez got the willies and dial stayed here.
  5. Folks, been planting sweet potatoes and peppers. Toronto radio booth really working over Wallner's fielding. How bad was it?
  6. Taylor. 5 Ks in last two games. You can't look at that borderline pitch.
  7. I gave them a C. Twins are playing .500 ball in the worst division in ball. Can't move the needle past the "Ol' Charley."
  8. I have 17 lbs of walleye filets in the freezer that my bud from Texas pulled out of the Mississippi for me.
  9. Ah, but did you score some walleye or panfish?
  10. I was upstairs in the crow's nest (section 319). Some observations Just a delightful game on a gorgeous day. Ugly as sin (5 errors without counting the ball the RF misjudged for SF) but when we have slept through so many Twins snoozers, seeing all those guys running around was like Christmas. Giants left 15 on base. Twins had 11 Ks in just 8 innings. Taylor had 4 of them and looked absolutely clueless at the plate. Probably something at home, clubhouse issue -- who knows, but he looked bad. 24,000 in attendance and 25,000 of them were kids. Stuffing their faces, running the corridors, jumping up to get on camera/scoreboard. "Get off my lawn kid." Target Field is in great shape. That condo building in LF going up has to be 30 stories and is going to eat Target Field. Attending a game w/a friend who is also into baseball is about 11" below heaven's doorstep. Julien looked good at 2nd despite the rap. Wallner has a rifle for an arm, drilling a throw from right w/a Giant thinking the beanstalk was at home plate. Giant reconsidered and scampered back to 3rd. People can't watch a game without a phone in one hand. Must be looking at Fangraphs. Not. Ryan was out of sorts. Guessing at 65% strikes? Not his usual 72-80%. Lots of early lumber on his pitches. Not his shiniest game but walked away w/the win. Didn't realize Castro was as fast as he seemed today (I don't have cable and am provided games by Provus). Duran set the league's record for speed -- 104.6mph. That's a discussion for another day on the durability of arms given our fascination with speed. You guys have a ton of information you generously share. Thanks ever so much for it. db
  11. You express my sentiments exactly. They are getting hard to follow. I turned it back to Chicago radio for the finish of the WSox/Cleve game. Spirit. Spunk. Intensity. Determination. Missing in Action.
  12. I am waiting for Twins or someone to go after Chris Archer for on air work. Always gave such clear, articulate interviews. Could do good color broadcasting next to Provus.
  13. What Is the AL Central Most Like? I have these 5 female cousins from Aunt Cloretta. I would like to fix up RandBalls Stu with the best looking one. She's the one with all her teeth and went back to get her G.E.D.
  14. I listen to Talkin' Baseball and enjoy Plouffie. They said he would be working Balley on the side for the 6 games while Twins are in LA. I don't have video. Just curious how Plouffie is looking on pre-game/sideline work. Doing well? What do they have him doing?
  15. How quietly this farmer brought his bat to Los Angeles: .293/.364/.847
  16. I have given up on Dodgers' audio. Charley Steiner is non-descriptive in calling the game and I swear Rick Monday is dozing. Talk about dead air time!
  17. The video on MLB.com shows some black muck on his pants, at his hip, clear as the gray hair on me head. https://www.mlb.com/news/domingo-german-ejected-after-substance-check
  18. Cubs hitting .270 (3rd), Twins .218 (30th). Wow. The spell will be lifted from the Twins bats this weekend and go on to higher heights, beginning today. Vegas agrees with me, at least for today's game. Ryan will tame those Cub bats.
  19. Sorry, can't agree that it was "the right trade." Giving up prospects out of a desperate need for an arm is never going to work. You have no leverage. You end up with that guy with a previously reported injured arm. Falvey came over as "a guy who knows pitching." His failure has been in the drafting/development (or lack thereof) of arms within the system. A good development system within the minors is the "right trade" that hadn't been done in Falvey's six years that left the Twins in such a ominous predicament.
  20. Gladden interviewed him post game. Classy guy. One of those midwestern understaters. He had no idea that the HR was the longest of his career. Imagine taking one in the jaw and coming back w/HR and an HBP. Gent has cajones. Made me a fan. He didn't take long to become a Minnesotan. "Fer shure," 3 times. Mowing the lawn, but I think that makes him 0-25 for last bats. Big hurt.
  21. Herb Score (Cleve), pitcher, mid-50s, hit in the eye by a line drive off Doug McDougald's bat. Remember it.
