  1. Actually, Twins are 12-16 against clubs with .500 or greater records.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/news/derek-shelton-baseball-connection-to-two-ron-sheltons Great story on former bench coach Derek Shelton, now managing the Pirates. Weaves into the "Bull Durham" storyline and the history of the Sheltons in ball.
  3. Lewis is fielding .905 at 3B this year. Hope it is just rook nerves driving the small sample.
  4. 79-83 pending. Tito will tighten up the Cleveland bunch, SPs will heal, and the meek offensive weapons will be sufficient to Guard (Ian) the division title. The Lake Erie boys then will get tossed in the 1st playoff round like 3-day old bait.
  5. Went to a Tigers series in Detroit against Jays 5 years ago. They had a concert with Metallica the weekend before. What a mess the field was. Never seen anything like it. So bad they had to re-sod 1/3 of the outfield when the Tigers left for out of town.
  6. 1) Dump Popkins and his two Lieutenants. You can't fire the team. 2) DFA Kepler 3) DFA Pagan Promote on interim basis the batting coach job within the system who is doing the best job. Promote Wallner to RF. Promote the best BP pitcher from StPS.
  7. Though I wouldn't have them wear it, this was a classic.
  8. TD/Cody grabs the obvious, glaring failure of the Twins' organizational hitting plan. Stats don't lie. The FO embraces an analytic game plan. Why can't they see, acknowledge, change course and reverse obvious failure? Where is the leadership?
  9. Lewis raised his BA by 82 points to .270 in one game. Schooled the lineup on hustle. Beating out the infield hits a good sign; the nasty tumble the other night seems to have left no impact on his health. Looking at the BP usage, seems Lopez, Winder, Moran and Pagan are left to be closers, as needed. Ryan needs to go long here this afternoon.
  10. If Buxton's knee was scoped last fall and it hasn't healed by now (9 months), it's not healing and it's very apparent... Buxton won't be playing CF this year. Twins are stuck.
  11. Two thoughts. I will attend my standard 8-10 games, up in the cheap seats. I am interested in ball -- I would be at games in Oakland. Get the picture. But you hit it on the nose. "Boring, robotic baseball..." This team has no persona, no charisma, no pizazz, no character, no soul. If they had IT, there would have been a "players only" (Sonny, put it together) meeting and this weak little brother crap would end.
  12. Seen on MSP/STP Craig's list:
4th Batting Coach needed. Experience preferred.

  13. One "like" just for the delightful metaphor. That and the "monkey's paw."
  14. Won't happen at 3B. Past performance at 3B suggests that Miranda is a .950 fielder both thru the minors as well as the majors. No reason to speculate on that one.
  15. Standing is not the issue. It is the immediate movement and pressure on the knee with rapid starts and stops. Been there and can hear the MD's words.
  16. His knee is shot. He had it scoped last Sept. If it hasn't healed by now, it is not going to. He is probably running bone on bone but the Twins FO isn't going to let that cat out of the bag. Here's your DH.........Byron Buxton.
  17. Would you believe that I felt so good about MN once again that I cancelled our airline reservations to Arizona for Feb and Mar 2024? Nah, I kept 'em.
  18. Angels pounded Lance Lynn and WSox. Lynn charged w/8 ERs in 4 inn. ERA ballooned to 6.55. Gave up 3 HRs, now pushing count to 15 HRs, record stuff for him with long season ahead. Didn't like Lynn when he bore the TC so will shed no tears this eve.
  19. Buxton? Had the knee scoped in September. Twins have never said if it was medial or lateral. He is 8 mos out and the Twins are holding him back. I firmly believe the Twins are fibbing a bit and we will never see Buxton in CF again. After scoping, a second scope or knee replacement is all there is. He might get scoped again Sept/Oct? (I only play doctor on forums based on my own knee drama). Keep Lewis at 3rd. Don't screw around with someone who has had ACL fixed twice. Spend the dime and get a CF.
  20. Agree. I am old school. You made the mess. Be big enough to clean it up. Build some trust with you SPs, Baldelli. Good luck re-signing Gray next year. As outspoken as Gray has been, that attitude suggests to me that Gray will say to his agent, "Let's shop that Twins offer ..."
