  1. Giolito is ineligible to receive a QO since he was traded midseason.
  2. Terrible decision(s) by the Angels. But if all these players get claimed, they get under the luxury tax threshold and then receive a much better pick when Ohtani doesn't accept the QO than if they were still over the luxury tax threshold.
  3. Or we could've simply kept Danny Coulombe.
  4. It's actually Ryan Jeffers by quite a large margin. Yes, Polanco is absolutely worth more than his salary. Kepler is not really. Polanco definitely has trade value. Kepler doesn't. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/teams/491/
  5. He would not. Sometimes you're asked to name a Twins all star, or a Twins player with 100 Rbi's or 30 saves, 30 stolen bases, so that can be a lifelong Twin, but Glenn Williams isn't going to ever be on there:)
  6. Twins and Cincy? Uh, Sonny Gray? Yesterday was the Twins and Phillies. I went with Terry Mulholland. You could also go with Jim Thome.
  7. At this point it's Cole's to lose. He leads in innings, WAR, is barely in second in ERA, second in WPA, fifth in WHIP, and is third in strikeouts. Those are really all the stats the voters care about. It's mostly innings and ERA. Sonny is behind Gausman, Cole, and is in the same tier as Eovaldi, Ohtani, and Valdez. He will definitely get some votes, maybe top 5 depending on how he and the other guys do down the stretch. Felix Bautista is going to get some votes too; he might end up with 45 saves and leads the league in WPA.
  8. The pitch to Max was especially bad. You can throw it anywhere but there to get him out. Fastballs up or slow stuff away will get him out.
  9. Agreed. I would've liked to see him traded, but apparently the other teams have the same view as you and I-he's not worth much.
  10. Yes. Gardy thought shortstops should be short, fast guys, not tall guys with strong arms. Old school vs hey, look at all the shortstops now-Correa, Seager, Tatis, Machado, Didi, heck, Oneill Cruz is 6"7!
  11. To be fair, Castillo definitely balked picking him off. No way he stepped off the rubber.
  12. Yeah, Indiana travel baseball isn't CA travel baseball. His high school season was even less competitive. But that's evidenced by his ridiculous numbers....Clark hit .646 with an unbelievable .808 on-base percentage for Franklin HS.
  13. There are way more prospects who flop than there are established MLB regulars who flop. That's why there are hundreds of minor leaguers but only 40 guys on each MLB roster. Yep, some will pan out, but most won't. That's just the nature of baseball. Even if Chase Petty turns out to be really good, that's still a trade I'd make to get Sonny Gray 100 times out of 100. Sonny Gray has more of a track record than Chase Petty does. High school arms are especially a crapshoot.
  14. This is why you trade prospects. They are just that, prospects. Who knows whether or not they will turn out to be contributors at the MLB level or not.
  15. I think I would take Teel over Lowder. It's easier to get a #3/4 starter through other means than it is to get a left handed hitting athletic catcher with pop...
  16. Crews has a lot more pop in his bat and is a lot faster and better defensively than Martin. He's a legit centerfielder with all five tools. Martin was a utility guy with a high avg and obp, but didn't profile as a great defender anywhere and didn't have the power in college Crews does. Really hard to evaluate Clark. Lowder profiles as a high floor type guy for sure.
  17. We had the twinspass and went to 10 games in April, May and June. I am 7-3 this year. I dropped the twinspass for the rest of the summer. mostly because it's not very fun to watch one of the worst offenses in baseball struggle to score runs and strikeout 17 times a game.
  18. This is my thought as well. I'd rather they pick Teel than Jacob Gonzalez or Matt Shaw or something to pick a college bat instead of Max Clark or Walker Jenkins. I have a feeling they're not going to pick a high schooler.
  19. Stewart is out of options. He can't be sent down. Also, Beef Stew currently is one of the better relievers. In the current hierarchy, he's after Duran, which is not great...
  20. Especially with the current state of the bullpen. There's one guy we all trust in the pen currently.
