  1. I'd be fine with that, but the Twins wouldn't. Dodgers ran him off the team, for reasons other than the allegations. Seems like he had no clubhouse issues with the Reds though. The Twins do their research on clubhouse chemistry stuff so I'd guess they would pass. They won't make the Donaldson mistake again.
  2. Vasquez signed a 3/30 deal last year so he will be back. Maeda and Gray are free agents but Farmer is not.
  3. I see one of Castro, Polanco, and Farmer needing to go. Out of those three, only two can play shortstop. Polanco isn't really an asset defensively anywhere and has the best bat of the three but also hasn't stayed healthy in years. Farmer and Castro are much cheaper than Polanco. I'd probably keep Farmer and trade Polo TBH because the return would be greater.
  4. Yeah, I feel bad for Oakland fans. And the Oakland players.
  5. Having to use Cora as the manager and a pretty bare farm system devoid of pitchers would be negatives. So much more pressure and you play in a really tough division.
  6. Yeah, the only guys I'd consider better for 2024 than Sonny are Blake Snell, Yamamoto, Aaron Nola, Kershaw and maybe Trevor Bauer, but the Twins realistically aren't going to sign any of those guys. I like Gray better than Jordan Montgomery or Frankie Montas. Eduardo Rodriguez or Jack Flaherty would be cheaper options that could start a playoff game.
  7. No, Pablo can pitch game 2 and Sonny game 3 on regular rest. Then Pablo could throw a couple innings in game 5 if necessary.
  8. I really don't like Ryan's stuff vs Houston's fastball hitters and short left field porch. I'd love to start Maeda in game one, but I don't think the Twins will. My prediction: 1. Ryan, then Maeda 2. Lopez 3. Gray 4. Ober Game 5 is all hands on deck, perhaps Lopez starts on short rest.
  9. Julien has struck out in 31 percent of his plate appearances. So he's striking out more than the Twins as a whole.
  10. I would've liked to see 15/11 and Larnach over Funderburk, but I figured they'd go with this. Do you really need two lefties in the pen when Toronto only has one good lefty hitter?
  11. They're not going to use Bassett or Berrios out of the bullpen. Kikuchi might come in for long relief, but he's not going to start game three over Bassett or Berrios. Mayza and Cabrera are lefty relievers though who will pitch.
  12. I really just don't want to face Framber Valdez. It's so hard to win a three game series if you lose game one. Almost never happens. Not afraid of any of the Rangers, blue jays or mariners starters as Twins did get to most of them this year.
  13. Yeah, he had a torn labrum. Poor guy was a really good pitcher who mostly pitched on terrible teams his whole career.
  14. Scherzer is likely done for the year. I do think the Twins' low scoring during Gray's starts has to do with frequently facing the other teams' staff ace.
  15. Their age 28 seasons aren't super comparable though. Simmons had 5.7 WAR that season. Correa won't be more than a 2 WAR player this year. Of course, Correa already has more career WAR than Simmons accumulated in his whole career. I hope CC recovers and is back to 3-5 WAR next season. Simmons never hit the ball as hard as Correa does, and only had two full seasons where he was barely an above-average hitter, so Correa's ceiling is much higher.
  16. Um...I would probably just extend the QO and see what happens. I doubt he takes it, but I don't really want him here for 3 years and 70 million and then at least we get a draft pick.
  17. Although the last time they were a big player in FA they signed Javy Baez, who has made them worse.
  18. 48-45 outside the division. So, .500 if you take out the three games vs oakland. Not bad. Vs the other potential AL playoff teams: 2-4 vs Orioles 3-4 vs Boston 4-2 vs Houston 3-4 vs Mariners 0-3 vs Rays 5-2 vs Texas 3-3 vs Blue Jays
  19. Agreed. Torkelson can bang, too. He's going to get better.
  20. If the writers used the criteria for awarding Cy young awards that they do now, Bert would've won the Cy Young in 1973. He easily led the league in WAR.
  21. Yes. I have never seen a MN sports championship in my lifetime, so in a heartbeat, yes.
  22. 13 strikeouts and only 4 hits. We don't deserve to win this game.
  23. This is how I see it as well. So many teams need bullpen help and rotation help. Zero chance the Twins get any of the Angels relievers or Giolito. I think the best starter that makes it to the Twins is Carrasco...I'd pass.
  24. It's the former. They could claim all if they wanted them all.
