  1. League-wide batting avg is the lowest it's been since 1968, "the year of the pitcher" and the year before they lowered the pitching mound. There are lots of guys hitting under .200. Look at the mariners hitting stats!
  2. I would love Lorenzen, Jon Gray or Scherzer. I don't think adding a pen arm is going to be worth it.
  3. Wait, wasn't the Joe Ryan for Nelson Cruz deal also a trade deadline deal? Edit, nevermind, the article is only about the twins buying at the deadline. All of the trades made sense at the time- I liked the Mahle trade quite a bit. Obviously it didn't turn out the way the twins wanted purely bc Mahle couldn't stay healthy.
  4. Yep. Look at Colt Keith, and Wyatt Langford, even Corbin Carroll and Julio Rodriguez too.
  5. No. Twins sold the streaming rights, so the Twins don't appear on the Ballysports app. (unless you validate with a subscription to another service, which as you mentioned is just directtv or directv stream) The Wild and Wolves are on the app though. The app sucks, to put it mildly.
  6. Yeah, I'd gladly pay for that. But not paying close to $100 just to watch the Twins.
  7. Unbelievable. It really is like MLB wants all the potential younger fans to watch the NBA and NFL instead. They're getting their wish.
  8. He did alter his swing/stance from last year. His hands are a bit lower and his stance isn't quite so open. He's a little shorter to the ball and doesn't have the big bat swing before his swing.
  9. Gallo at least carried the lineup most of April. Santana has been completely forgettable.
  10. Pitcher injuries are way up across MLB as a whole. Bieber done for the year. Gerrit Cole hurt. Strider done for the year. Eury Perez done for the year even after the Marlins babied him. Glasnow thinks it's related to the pitch clock, no sticky substances, and the emphasis on velo. Probably a lot of factors behind it, but it's certainly an issue especially as teams now refuse to pay top $ for free agent starters. https://theathletic.com/5325032/2024/03/08/elbow-injuries-mlb-pitchers/ https://www.si.com/mlb/2024/04/08/pitcher-injury-epidemic-tommy-john-surgery-velocity https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-response-pitcher-injuries-2024
  11. We did this last year and for 2019. It's more expensive for 2024. Won't be doing it because we have a new addition to the family and his bedtime is 8 pm, so it'll be weekend day games this season for us only.
  12. Cease is definitely a solid #2 in my eyes. CWS was a dumpster fire last season. The fangraphs projections are similar for Ryan and Cease this year though, which surprised me. I wouldn't overpay for Cease either.
  13. Maybe, but if you look at other rotations around MLB, the Twins rotation situation starts to look better. At least the Twins have three guys who are young AND pitched a decent amount of quality innings last year (Ober, Ryan and Pablo). Most teams don't even have that. I expect Paddack to be good in April and May, at least. Ober was very good last year in MLB and AAA. Ryan was pitching at an all-star level before he pitched through injury for a few terrible starts.
  14. These are my thoughts as well. I think Lorenzen could be a difference maker as well, but anyone else is not better than Varland, SMW or Festa. If the Twins were considering Bauer or Clev they would be in ST already. Some SP will be available at the deadline and I expect the FO to strongly consider adding another starter who could start a playoff game then.
  15. Is Margot better than Duvall or Taylor? Why not just sign Taylor for $4m and not trade a first round pick? Don't really like this...
  16. Fubo tv does. It's almost $100/month though.
  17. I think you're right. The Twins seem to really care about clubhouse chemistry and players fitting with their culture after the Donaldson deal and I can't see the Twins signing Bauer. He's probably going to play in MLB somewhere though and I wouldn't bet against him succeeding. Seems like a fit for TB after they trade Glasnow.
  18. I don't really see Cortes being any better or durable than Maeda in 2024. Maeda only requires money, and not a ton compared to other FA starters. Cortes doesn't have good stuff.
  19. Clearly the cardinals are not trying to win the NL central next year.
  20. Bellinger is going to get paid. A lot. Like more than 150 million. No way the Twins are a player there.
  21. Correa will be here for the duration of his 200m deal. Full no trade clause. Disagree with the notion that he is about to decline. He's not even 30.
  22. I probably wouldn't trade Jeffers, but I would trade Julien. Seattle seems like a match and they have young pitching....
  23. Agree here. I'd bet on Giolito or Flaherty instead of buying high on Snell or Montgomery. Nola's ERA and FIP were both over 4 this year, pass.
