    On pace for 93 wins currently with a SUPER banged up rotation and lineup...Some smoke and mirrors, but also have starters 1-4 out currently and still in first place... My preseason prediction was 84-78. I think it'll be closer to 90 now, which could win the central.

    I would not trade significant prospect capital to get a starter, as I don't think Montas or Alcantara or Castillo are going to move the needle this season or next. I'd trade to improve the 'pen, even if only for a rental.

    Balazovic and Larnach is a lesser package than SWR and Martin. Oakland is going to get/want top prospects not on the 40 man. They'd probably pick up the phone if the package starts with Lewis, even though he takes up a 40 man spot. I could see Oakland coveting Noah Miller.

    Right. I have hope for Megill. His stuff seems good, but I trust Thielbar and Jax to not walk guys and get themselves into trouble more at this point.

    He's a FA at the end of this year! We could sign him for only money! For real though, he's been basically the equivalent of Chris Archer this year. Not terrible, and useful to eat innings and keep you in games, but not a needle mover or a guy you want starting a playoff game.

    Tier 1: Duran Tier 2: Jax, Smith, Thielbar Tier 3: Pagan Tier 4: Cotton, Coulombe, Megill, Moran Tier 5: Duffey.

    I don't expect Bundy to go 5 innings, whether he's pitching well or not. If he gives us 4 innings with less than 4 runs, I'd consider that a success, considering how he's pitched his last few outings. I expect him to get totally lit up.

    You're being old school. Baldelli manages pitchers the same way every other manager in the game manages pitchers. In fact, the Twins leave starters in slightly longer than league average. I think his primary impact on the team has to do with clubhouse chemistry. He's not a yell in your face, motivate by telling you how much you suck type guy. He encourages players, has their backs, and puts them in spots to succeed. He also has confidence (false or not) that they will succeed. That does go a long way in knowing hey, the manager believes in my skills, my role, and here's what I need to do to get better and help the team win. For how much the Twins have been banged up, he's done a pretty good job managing who can pitch when, who can play where, etc. The Twins have already had to go what, 14 starters deep? Top 4 starters are ALL unavailable right now and the team is still in first place.

    He's leading the team in doubles. That's certainly unexpected.

    Gordon can also play CF. But less of an every day player than GC.

    AK is a much better 1B than Arraez or Miranda. I'd assume the Twins would DH arraez instead of Kirilloff. Keep Arraez's bum knees healthier too.

    Yeah his only real competition there is Ty France, who is having a heck of a year for Seattle. I don't think France will continue to hit. 330 but so far France has been more valuable than Arraez due to a higher OPS and more games, plus more slug and a lot more RBI's.

    Arraez is leading MLB in batting avg and on base percentage, but Ty France actually has a better OPS and has been a more valuable player overall.

    Also, Smeltzer doesn't have good stuff either. Look at what he did against the same lineup. All Smeltzer has is better control, which is definitely playing at the MLB level currently.

    I am curious to see if Madbum gets moved. He likes Arizona and has a full no-trade clause, so he would have to approve a destination. Definitely do NOT see him as a clubhouse fit here, but he is pitching well and I'm sure AZ wants to unload that contract.

    Yeah...looking at his underlying data I'd say he regresses. I doubt he'll receive Cy Young votes.

    The location data is interesting. I also wonder why the demographics of this site, as opposed to the Athletic, ST PPP, Strib, KFAN, seems to be older and more out-state?

    I agree with you that it's pretty much baseless and frustrating. But I have elderly relatives in Brookings and Sioux Falls, and they said they won't go to their typical 2-3 Twins games this year because of their perceived crime risk. I think it's pretty much all coming from people who haven't actually been to Minneapolis in years.

    I go to 4-8 games/month. I'd say the main reasons for low attendance, in order: 1.The weather has been awful. Really cold and wet April. Heck, even yesterday it was cold. It was like 35 degrees the whole Dodgers series. 2. The team sucked last year. 3. It's very difficult to watch the Twins games. (most people don't have cable or directv and the blackouts...) 4. There are a number of people who either are afraid to go downtown or don't want to support downtown businesses 5. People are afraid of covid and still not really traveling to places with large crowds of maskless people. 6. Casual fans don't go to games until school gets out and the weather gets nice, regardless of how good the team is. Most game attenders are casual fans who have no idea the lockout even happened. Most casual fans have no idea offense is way down across the league.

    Why Megill there? Was there literally no one else available?

    Ryan and Gray are good enough to throw out there in a playoff series and have a good chance to win. Ryan is top ten in the AL in WAR right now. Neither are Corbin Burnes, but there are only like 3-4 guys in all of MLB in that tier. Bundy, Ober, Archer...Eh, no, but at least Archer has been there before and has good stuff to get through a lineup twice.
