    Thanks for another comprehensive report. Although, maybe a type on this sentence: He gave up no runs and no walks, though he walked one.

    Seems like I see DaShawn Keirsey Jr.'s name pop up frequently in these reports. I realize that he's not a top prospect, and maybe not someone we will see called up for another year or two, but might he not end up being a steady backup or utility player at the MLB level?

    well, I'm getting a bit worried about SWR. I had high hopes for him, but he numbers so far this year look scary.

    I'd pick that as the best trade too. As much as we loved Nelson Cruz, Ryan has been fantastic. And I still like the Berrios trade. I have a feeling that either Martin or SWR will end up being a long-term player for the Twins.

    Other than reading about these potential draft picks, I don't have a clue about which ones are best or which ones would best fit our needs. But at some point early in this draft, please please please find some quality pitchers!

    Well, in retrospect, this ended up being a bad trade. But I liked it at that time and felt like it was a trade that needed to be made. I'm assuming the Twins front office did their due diligence on Mahle's so-called history of shoulder issues, so I can't fault them totally for that. And it's not like we gave up our best prospects. Sure, Steer is looking like a steady starter with the Reds, and CES will no doubt be called up before the year is out, and Haijer hasn't pitched yet this season. So, I'll just repeat the same thing others have said; live with the trade and move on to more important matters.

    Brooks Lee is looking like a definite keeper, but as others have said, no need to rush him to the big show just yet. A few more months on the farm at least, and then maybe a late season callup. But as for being a savior ... I don't see him as that big of a difference maker. Good player, maybe even an all-star at some point, but that's a few years down the road.

    Yeah, what's the deal with Raya only pitching 3 innings? I haven't paid much attention to his outings, but has that been the norm for him so far this season? or was this game a shorter one for him for some reason?

    Put me in the club wanting hitters like Carew and Oliva too! I had such high hopes for Buxton coming into this season, but it seems like he is mostly swinging for the fences each time he's up. I have to think he's capable of getting a lot of "regular" hits if he decided that's what he wanted to do.

    I don't know much about Helman either, or at least I didn't (Thanks for another good report!), but any player with speed and hitting skills like that catches my eye!

    You beat me to it! I used to watch Mark Funderburk play with the Orlando Twins back in the day, and was excited when he finally got a chance to play with the big club. But going back to Kody Funderburk, his performance thus far has been encouraging. But as others have noted, some AAA experience might be necessary.

    Rob Refsnyder leading off for Boston yesterday ... but he went 0-3 in that game. Still, it's good to see him back in the majors and getting some at-bats.

    Yeah, a good game, and further evidence that it's too early to send him packing. As others have noted, he's pretty much done what we expected, although I haven't seen much evidence of him being a plus defender. Still, it's a long season, and we're still not sure when Lewis is coming back, so no need to pass judgment right now.

    Agree with that 100%. I was not that enthused about hiring a younger hitting coach with so little experience, but when you are dealing with so many veteran players, they are the ones that have to answer to the performance issues. I don't think a hitting/batting coach is going to make that much difference with the established players.

    I loved that juggling act by Gallo, but on one of those replays it looked like the ball hit the ground before he caught it in his bare hand. Maybe the umps ignored that due to the theatrics of the catch!

    In this report Seth mentioned that Andrew Stevenson stole his 11th base of the season. That's an impressive stat for this early in the year. I realize he's not a young prospect, but he does have some MLB experience. Might we see him called up at some point this season?

    I think you are right. Sending down Miranda to get some confidence (and maybe some fielding tips?) will be a good thing when all is said and done.

    I agree. Oakland can't afford to give up any prospects at all at this point. They will keep looking for waiver pickups and guys like Brent Rooker who were cast off by other teams.

    Happy to see Alcala called back up. But with our hitting woes this year, I'm starting to wonder if any of our pitchers have some latent pinch-hitting skills that we can use?
