  1. Swept by the Tigers? Yes, pitiful is the word for it. Or maybe discouraging is more accurate. We start to look good, and then we can't score any runs. On the bright side, with so few hits, we were less likely to hit into more double plays!
  2. Gotta give Grossman credit for hanging in there and still being a useful player.
  3. Just from looking at the box scores, it seems like Gibson is striking out more batters this year too. Where did that come from?
  4. The biggest question will be where to play Julien. He doesn't see to have the glove for an infield position, so is his future at DH?
  5. Great to see that someone still remembers Mark Lemke!
  6. Lots of good comments. A healthy Buxton and Royce Lewis are obvious factors, continued productivity from Kepler and Jeffers and Wallner, another late season surge by Correa, a return to early season form by Duran, Gray, and Ober ... lots of pieces we need to come together, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
  7. Congratulations to Andrew Bechtold on his first Win as a professional. That was nice to see! Will the team try him as a two-way player going forward, or will they actual convert him to a pitcher?
  8. How did Ober look overall? He was one of our steadiest pitchers the past few months but his last two or three starts have been rough. Is he tired and in need of some rest? Hopefully, no injury concerns, but he needs to get back in the groove ASAP.
  9. I liked the trade at the time and I still like it, even though Arraez will probably win another batting title. That said, I recall a lot of worries among some posters about Arraez's durability and which position he would end up playing. But hey, if he's still hitting well and hasn't had any serious injuries this year, so I'm sure Miami is very happy with the trade. Both players seem like good guys and I hope they both continue to thrive on their new teams.
  10. Good question. I'm not sure how much more Larnach needs to do at AAA to show what he can do, But whether or not he's good enough to be a MLB regular or just AAAA player who bounces between levels is still a question mark. I'm still on the fence. Maybe he needs to learn some first base skills too.
  11. If he can help us get to the World Series again (granted, we actually have to win some playoff games first), that will be an even better feel-good story!
  12. Like probably everyone else on this board I'm delighted to Royce Lewis back in action and playing games again. And that home run was sweet too!
  13. Very encouraging to see a game like that from Martin. I still think he's going to turn into a good MLB player. But at which position?
  14. Not even a close game, so I won't grind my teeth too much about this one. Eduardo Rodriguez is having a very good season, so it's just unfortunate we had to face him. Now the team just needs to regroup, focus harder, and get a lot more hits tomorrow.
  15. As far as Polanco, he's been a very good player overall for the Twins ... when he is healthy. But that's another one of those big question marks. With so many exciting young prospects in the Twins system, plus Polanco's precarious injury history, I can't see the team making any sort of contract extension to Polanco. But Kepler? Hmm ... I was ready to say goodbye to him too, but his recent resurgence is making me reconsider.
  16. As this article mentioned we certainly have a logjam of good/borderline players that may need to be added to the 40-man roster, or even dropped. Some hard decisions, especially with all the injuries this year. I can't make any guesses who will make the cut at this point, but it will be an interesting and/or frustrating off-season.
  17. Thanks for another great report Seth. Like many others, I am VERY excited about Walker Jenkins. Great to see him delivering already. I'm also looking forward to the debut of Charlee Soto. Thanks also for the analysis of Jose Salas. As you noted, we need to be patient with a young player like that. Still hopeful of big things for him too.
  18. Jeffers has been on fire lately, and I sure hope he continues his hot streak for the next 60 days or so!
  19. Sadly, I think you are right about Buxton. If he's healthy he's a definite plus in the lineup, even at DH. But something seems to be amiss with him this year.
  20. Thanks for such an in-depth analysis of Keuchel and his pitching patterns. Honestly, I still can't get my head around some of these advanced stats and numbers, but I appreciate the work you put into doing this, and it helps me understand his overall effectiveness. As you noted, he's basically the same pitcher he has always been, mixing his pitchers to keep the batters off balance. I hope he can fine-tune his arsenal of pitches even more in the next two months.
  21. That would be a wonderful thing to see happen! Hey, he's been there and won some playoff games, so it can't hurt to have his experience and advice to help our Twins, along with a healthy arm in the rotation.
  22. You are right; Shuffield doesn't seem to get much respect or prospect hype, especially considering the numbers he's been putting up at each level. He's looking like a handy player to keep around.
  23. For a rookie player Wallner DOES seem to have both confidence and poise. Doesn't look like he's easily rattled, such as his reaction to that called strike you mentioned. Like so many others, I'm excited about his performance so far, and his potential going forward. Needless to say, I don't think he needs any more AAA seasoning at this point!
