  1. As long as he is still good behind he plate, teams will find a need for his services.
  2. Very informative article. Many thanks for this one!
  3. It's good that Soto finally got to pitch in a real game. Not a super impressive start, but not horrible either. It feels like we will need to be patient with him while he works on his control. The strikeouts will no doubt be plentiful, I'm just worried about him giving up a bunch of hits or walking a lot of batters. But hey, it's VERY early days, so I'm just happy to see him pitching finally.
  4. All these batters striking out repeatedly is driving me up the fricking wall!
  5. I guess they are not ready to give up on the idea of Miranda playing third, or at least it could be some sort of Plan B scenario. But you are right; his bat looked good in spring training, so hopefully he will continue to hit and the Twins might find a way to bring him up again sometime this season. And hey, good to see the Saints win!
  6. If we went out and re-signed Rich Hill and/or Dallas Keuchel those guys would qualify as young indeed!
  7. I don't think either one of those guys will embarrass himself if called up. Give one of them a chance.
  8. Another season begins and we can enjoy these Minor League Week in Review articles again. Great stuff! Speaking of one of the prospects, the Twins are a few decades overdue for another Cardenas on the team. Might this kid be the one?
  9. Very true, Any amount of time on the IL hurts the team and obviously makes it longer for Royce to rehab and get back into action. Let's keep hoping for good news on this injury.
  10. Yeah, a pulled muscle is something that should not be long term. Hoping for good news tomorrow.
  11. I think you are right. He's now working for the Dodgers, of all strange teams, but is signing with Seattle for 1 day and then officially retiring. Ugh. My head hurts.
  12. I'm puzzled/curious about that time frame too. They are doing, or have done, an MRI, so I guess we just have to wait for the results at this point. Obviously, a few weeks is preferable to a few months. Let's cross all our fingers and toes for Royce!
  13. Oops, I just saw Stringer Bell's post about Goodrum in the other thread, so that answers that question.
  14. Rortvedt is an interesting acquisition for Tampa. He might see considerable playing time there this season. Will Goodrum actually be on the Rays to start the season, or will he be stashed in AAA I wonder?
  15. Well, we added several new arms to the bullpen, but the jury is still out as to whether they will truly be effective arms or more players we send packing before the all-star break. So yeah, I'm still a bit skeptical about how we are going to do, especially now with the injuries to Duran and the other players. Never enough depth, right? As far as the starting rotation, well, it looks good on paper but not too terribly great, and once again we are maybe injury to a key arm away from disaster. Let's hope some of those arms that are ready and waiting in AAA are ready to contribute.
  16. Great to see Ron Washington managing again. All of sudden the Angels are interesting for me to follow.
  17. He's had a surprisingly good spring for Yankees. It will be a great story if he sticks with them all season.
  18. Keeping a healthy pitching staff is always a challenge. Hopefully, with the added depth we have this season, the early injuries to the guys in the bullpen won't be a huge issue. And I'm still not real confident about the fifth starter.
  19. Over in NYC, the long-lost Nick Burdi has resurfaced with the Yankees and has had an impressive spring so far.
  20. His batting average ain't much but he's drawing some walks, and has hit a few homers this spring. Will be interesting to see if he makes the team.
  21. I was sad to see him go too, but he appeared to be the odd man out in the bullpen mix. His average has been dropping in ST the past 2 weeks, but he might still make the opening day roster. Then again, Michael A. Taylor was signed by the Pirates last week, which won't help Celestino's chances.
  22. Due to his track record thus far, I'll always be a little worried about this health, or at least his ability to avoid injuries, but as you noted, all the adversity has only made him stronger and more focused. And hopefully, these "challenges" will end up making him a better overall player too. And sure, the Correa factor/mentorship can't hurt either. All in all, I'm very excited about Lewis going into this season, and if he's NOT a contender for the All-Star game I'll be disappointed. He is indeed a special player.
  23. The Rangers just signed Lorenzen so the options are getting fewer. I don't quite understand the negativity about Clevinger. I'd be happy to give him a chance at this point. I think we will need that extra arm in the rotation early in the season.
  24. I think having both the opportunity and the proverbial "green light" are big factors. So far in spring training Gordon has already stolen 5 bases for the Marlins. I think he will thrive in Miami.
