I think it is good competition within the team. They all know there is someone who could take their place. In the past it really didn't matter how well you played because it seemed more like a favorites thing. Now it seems you produce and you play, doesn't matter who you are or what the name is on the back of the jersey. Plus Baldelli has real DH's and power hitting first baseman to choose from. That is what I think the difference is. I always thought Dozier was the leader of the clubhouse but seems he threw in the towel last year. We have more than one player this year that has picked it up. Plus they are having fun, running and dancing off the field with a win most times, better than the heads hanging as they left the field the last 10 years.

Article: MIN 3, LAA 1: Pitching Great, Sano Homers Late

It was just a question. I do not claim to be an expert just wondering if there was a way to make more room for the younger players. -

Can they get anything for Kepler, Adrianza, Cave or Austin? -

Nice that 17 hits in 2 days seem not so good this year. Love it. Last year 17 hits in 3 games would have been something. Gotta love this team! -

I always wondered how different this team would be if we had a true DH and power hitting 1st baseman. Many said Mauer, Grossman and the many DH's we had last year had a good OBP and that should be just as good.- 21 replies

I still have such a hard time understanding how a cut on your foot can keep you out for such a long time. Did it cut through the muscle? -
Article: Who is the Face of the Minnesota Twins?
MABB1959 replied to Andrew Thares's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Berrios for me but you only see him once maybe twice a week. People know the name Sano and if he comes back strong that is who I would go with. Rosario really brings out the spirit of the team but not sure he is a MN household name yet. But there is also Buxton who most likely known to most fans. -
It seems that they are feeding off each other and that is a good sign for the team as a whole. Also they know they have to play well to stay in the lineup. That has been missing for a long time. There have been 3-4 favorites always in the lineup regardless of how they played.

I am not in a panic mode. I am excited to watch each game so far. I think the hitting can pick up the pitching when needed. Seems they have a good core and motivated team. I don' really have play-off expectations but don't think they will lose 100 either. I could be a good year to watch and next year EXPECT to go far in the play-offs.

The attendance for the Toronto series was pathetic. He probably has a lot more on his mind. I think it was around 41,000 for all 4 games. The stands look pitiful when you watch on TV

With Mauer and Dozier gone there is so much flexibility. I don’t think Molitor had much of a choice but to play those 2 in prime spots.

I would not feel safe with the Twins. Some could play horrible for days in a row and still make the line-up. Some have a streak or a few good days in a row and still get benched or sent down if they struggle for a bit. Basically some get benched and others don't when they are struggling. I don't blame them for having attitudes. I was happy when Santana spoke out last year and Buxton this year. They toyed with Vargas and I think it is more the Twins coaches/management that ruined him. Same with Hicks and may be a reach but Arcia seemed to have potential that just went away. Gomez had an attitude and one other of the top prospects. Seems to be the key to being let go or traded and if I was on that team I would look at other teams and wish to be there. Last year Morrison and Dozier had really bad streaks but kept going out. When Mauer was in a slump he still played. Kepler was on the edge but never called out for it. I also suspect that is why some of the better players don't want to come here. We now get to watch Escobar, Nunez, Santana and Hicks from a far.

Development or lack of is huge for the Twins if they are not going to spend money to improve. There was so much excitement over players like Hicks, Vargas, Arcia and a few others. They are all gone with nothing to show for it. Now we have been banking on Buxton and Sano and so far not so good. If they don't pan out what is next? Another 3-4 years of "rebuilding". I think Gibson may be the last high round pick that is consistently playing and it seemed forever for him to develop. Berrios seems to be on his way but we thought that with Buxton and Sano too. It seems too many players go on to another team that seems to know how to do it.

Article: Twins Sign Left-Handed Pitcher Martin Perez
MABB1959 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
NYY, Boston are the Whole Foods/Lunds, Chicago/Detroit are Cub/Target and we are the Aldi/Walmart's of the MLB. KC is down there with us but they have recent WS that brings them above us. But we are still paying the Whole Foods ticket prices. -
They probably are just trying to excite the fan base. Trying to make us overlook the fact that they are not going to spend the money they were paying Mauer. I know he earned it but we have spent three to four seasons waiting for it to be done. I know he wasn't the reason or should not have been the reason they were not spending, but we have spent at least the last 3 off seasons wondering who they would sign once Mauer was gone. Woo hoo we got Cruz, while I am excited to get him, I can't take this anymore. I made it 3 days w/o reading about the Twins hopefully I can wean myself off of them all together.

Article: The Flip Side of Free Agency Frustration
MABB1959 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I said the whole team was a big gamble except for Berrios, Rosario and maybe Gibson, not counting E Santana because he is not on the team. If the was he would be another gamble. If he comes back from this injury I think he will do well. He is super competitive and so focused while he pitches. I also admired his mentoring of Berrios and Romero. -

Hit on a few of these gambles? The whole flipping team is a gamble except for Rosario, Berrios and maybe Gibson. We are always betting on long shots and maybe a couple of middle shots. They can't even seem to get the sure things right (Buxton and Sano). When we do get a decent pay back they let them go (Escobar, E Santana and Hicks). I am 99% sure we are going to regret letting Santana go. So this year as in the last 10 or so we have to hope most of our players can find one more year when they are 2 years removed from their last good one. On the positive side I am glad Escobar, Santana, Hicks and Dozier are on to bigger and better things! -

Article: Twins Need to Cruz Above the Line
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope it is a splash and not a belly flop. I get so hopeful but we have been let down so many times I feel like I should get ready for a flop instead. But I don't want to be negative since this is of the biggest things in years. As I write this I wonder why we are the team that hopes for splash instead of getting the for sure thing. I like to imagine him playing every day with a great chance of an RBI or HR.
