  1. Announcers just said the Brewers manager played all his cards and it made me think we had a season without a single face card and a couple of jokers.
  2. If Mauer retires he went out still being a good MLB player and on his terms. Dozier on the other hand may be out and not on his terms and that is really sad. I think that my have been Belisle's last game too.
  3. I cried 3 times. That was super emotional and glad that if it ended it was at home. It sure seemed like his mind is made up.
  4. I don't think Dozier is playing much anymore. His numbers are sad. What does this mean for his free agency? Will he even get a job? This is so sad.
  5. I would be happy next year having a consistent line-up. Instead of a mix-match every single game. I think getting a power hitting 1st and DH would fill most gaps. We need to let Sano and Buxton improve or fail on a whole year of playing before we let them go. Infield: Sano, Polanco, Lewis, at least and all star worthy 1st or DH or best both. OF can be Rosario, Buxton and Kepler. Starting pitching Berrios, Romero, Gibson, keep Santana, and find 2 more. I don't think it should be Odorizzi. Bullpen is hard to determine Rogers is the only memorable pitcher there. It has been years since they sent out the same line-up I miss those days.
  6. I would say first a consistent line-up. Guys who know they will play every day and fans can count on. Starting with a typical power hitting 1st baseman who bats 4th or 5th. Move Polanco to 2nd and up in the batting order, SS I would go with Lewis and get him started (let's try for once to get them while they are young and learn to play at this level), 3rd Sano. Catching someone who can call a good game and throw. Outfield Rosario batting 3rd, Buxton batting 1st. A real true DH or 2. One for lefties and one for righties. Right field Kepler should be fine. So we have 5 pieces so far?
  7. If you can try to see the positives it would be Berrios, Romero and Rogers for pitching. Santana perhaps if they bring him back, but that would cost money so I don't see that happening. Are there any big name free agent pitchers? Would the Twins pursue them? Would they want to come to MN? I can't even see this team contending for at least 5 years and that is a big question mark.
  8. Well we kind of looked forward to see what we had in the minors. A tad disappointing at least from what I can see at least for the pitching. If they can't pitch to KC who can they pitch to?
  9. What's to hate about the Yankees? An owner that puts a competitive team on the field year after year? Stanton, Judge, Hicks, Gregorios?
  10. I thought they did a lot to improve the BP? The regulars seem to be really bad. Belisle 8.62 ERA, Busenitz 6.56 and rising, Duffey 9+ and so on. Maybe it was a different year I am thinking of.
  11. Good to know that you think Mejia will be better, not sure about Pineda, another player coming off an injury. Do you know any middle of the rotation that will be available AND want to come here. I was glad he said what he did. Dozier did the same thing last year.
  12. Can anyone tell me who will replace Santana both in pitching and mentoring? He is still good. I am hoping Berrios, Romero and Gibson can be very good and not just average. Who else?
  13. I think it is important to bring back Santana. He is a good pitcher (better than anything they would go out and get in free agency). Doesn't seem like there is much ready in the minors. Santana is a great mentor for the young Latino pitching staff.
  14. Why pull Berrios? He was having a good game.
  15. The current on field payroll is 56m with Mauer getting more that 1/3 of that. Only 6 others over 1m and 3 of those are pitchers who maybe play a game or two each week. Reed, Ordorizzi, Forsythe, Gibson, Grossman and Adrianza. I guess you get what you pay for.
  16. Except for Berrios, Gibson and Rosario I don't think any of our players would start on a contending team. I don't think the Twins can save Buxton or Sano. I think they need to go to a team that can help them. Maybe that is the end game either the Twins don't want to have to pay them or Buxton and Sano want to go. I assume next year we will be wondering what happened to Berrios. Hicks is doing very well surrounded by real MLB players. We have nothing. I think Berrios and Romero will suffer If they don't bring back Santana. He has been a good mentor for them. So many others have been allowed to slide this year. Kepler has been okay but not good. Dozier got his pass waiting for the 2nd half. Morrison who knows what but he finally has an "injury". Grossman probably wouldn't make a average team roster. Mauer is good but should be at another position but the Twins wouldn't pay for a decent 1st baseman anyway. They would try to find some old veteran. If we lose Santana that is going to hurt starting pitching. It is a mess and I don't think the minor leagues are going to save next year.
  17. In my extremely disappointed opinion, I have always thought they would find a way to get rid of Sano and Buxton before they were owed their big payday. It also seems they have a hard time working with the Latino players. Dozier got a pass all season long with the wait until the 2nd half. Kepler has not been good. Cave is "okay" hitting but his fielding is not even good. They kept Morrison forever. He finally "got an injury". They have been extremely tough on Santana but Gibson got about 5 years of passes. Grossman is okay but not a great player. We no longer have any great players. We have Rosario (very good) and Berrios (could be a Cy Young). Seems more than likely something will mess them up too.
  18. This along with how they treated Dozier and Escobar is going to hurt. No decent players will want to sign with this team. Seems it is already like this but not it may be worse. They have such a hard time working with some and let others (Kepler) slack. Nothing they do makes much sense any longer.
  19. Where should Cave play in the field? CF seems tough for him.
