  1. I really hope that no one in the Twins organization is considering putting Maeda back in the rotation.
  2. I'm not sure that Correa's .731 OPS in May (with a .504 OPS over the last week) is really any reason to get excited.
  3. Right now, Kirilloff and Gallo both need to play every day. I'd also like Larnach and Wallner to have an opportunity to compete for one corner outfield spot. That doesn't leave much room for Kepler. I'm hoping that this is his last chance to keep his spot and if he doesn't get on track fairly soon, he will be moved (going 0-9 with 4 SO since he came back is not going to cut it).
  4. I really hope the Twins take whichever of the consensus top 5 is available when they pick. It has not gone well for the Falvey when he's gone against the general opinion in the 1st round (i.e. Cavaco and Sabato). I've been impressed with the Twins drafting in later rounds, but at the top of the draft I trust the industry far more than the Minnesota front office.
  5. I think it is time to move on from Kepler. It's getting hard to justify playing him over Gallo, Kirilloff, Larnach, or Wallner.
  6. I've been waiting years to see Kirilloff and Lewis healthy and in the major league lineup together.
  7. I feel kind of bad for Wallner, he goes 6-6 at the plate with 2 BB and a HR over the last 2 games and still gets sent down.
  8. I think the Twins need to start experimenting with Buxton in CF. Have him play 1 game a week in the outfield and see how things go. If that is successful, gradually up his CF time until they find a CF/DH balance that works. I'm not sure that anybody is expecting Byron to be a full time CF, but being a full time DH doesn't seem like a great idea either.
  9. The team really needs to someone to play CF. It's a quarter of the way into the season and Buxton is healthy. If the team is unwilling to play Buxton in the field now, I don't know when they will be. Even playing Buxton 2-3 times a week in CF would make a real difference.
  10. Jax is on pace to have over 20 losses. That's pretty amazing for a reliever.
  11. Bases loaded with nobody out and Polanco/Solano both make unproductive outs without seeing a pitch in the strike zone. It's tough to win when getting such incredibly bad at bats.
  12. I don't think Buxton has to be in CF every day, but I do think he needs to start playing the position at least half the time. At this point I don't get why he can't even be a part time outfielder.
  13. Having Correa finally starting to hit is at least as important as Kirilloff coming back. If the Twins can get Buxton back on track (and maybe playing some CF) the offense could be pretty decent.
  14. First was Maeda. Mahle is the 3rd starter the Twins have traded for that has needed Tommy John in the last 2 years.
  15. With team control through 2027, Ober is looking a rotation building block. It's really nice to have Lopez, Ryan , and Ober all under team control through 4 seasons after this year.
  16. I don't have any real doubt that Ober is a major league caliber starting pitcher and will be in the Twins rotation for the next few years.
  17. The Mahle trade is looking like a bust. He's been with the Twins for around 90 games and in that time he's made 9 starts, 3 of which he left early due to health issues.
  18. I don't see this as much of a question at this point. It is beyond obvious which pitcher gives the Twins a better chance to win.
  19. There are a number of reasons to bump Maeda from the rotation for Ober. 1) Maeda is not the same pitcher he was before TJ. 2) Ober has performed really well. I don't think there is much doubt as to who the better pitcher is at the moment. 3) Maeda's contract is heavily based on starts/innings, so continuing to let him start when he doesn't deserve it could have financial consequences.
  20. My guess is that Winder ends up in the bullpen for the same reason that Duran ended up there. When a guy has repeated injury problems over multiple seasons it makes sense to see if a move to the bullpen can keep him off the IL.
  21. I'll be surprised if he ever ends up starting games for the Twins. If he is in the rotation this season it likely means that things have gone off the rails for a number of the starters that are currently ahead of him (Ober, Winder, SWR, Varland, and Balazovic). My expectation is that he will get called up as a multi-inning reliever who will have a chance to earn higher leverage opportunities if he performs well.
  22. It's rare for players who have been in an organization for multiple seasons without showing anything (like Cavaco and Sabato) to suddenly break out. Of the three, Balazovic is the only one who has ever looked like a legitimate prospect, and he is the only one I see having much chance of making it to the majors.
  23. At the time they were drafted I loved the Larnach and Lee selections and hated the Cavaco and Sabato picks. The biggest difference was that Larnach/Lee were guys who had dropped a little past their rannking, while Cavaco/Sabato were players that the Twins reached for. My main takaway is that Falvey is not smarter than the overall consensus on top draft prospects. With that said, the current front office has done a pretty good job with their 2nd-10th round picks.
  24. The Twins will have 3 open spots on the 40-man roster after they put Paddack, Canterino, and Lewis on the 60-day IL. Solano fills one opening. That will still leave two spots for someone to earn their way onto the 40-man roster in spring training (or for a late reliever signing).
  25. With Spring training fast approaching, I'm wondering if the asking price of Chafin and/or Fulmer could be coming down to a point that would make sense the Twins.
