  1. Indeed. As dumb as it is to be critical of any draft, it is comically stupid to rate the success of any draft. Fact is, maybe two or three players, from each team, will make an MLB roster from this specific draft ... some teams will have more and some will have less. Then again, years ago a website commenter asked what if Buxton and Sano didn't live up to their collective hype machines and that person was widely told that it is unlikely they'll not be MLB superstars "because all the experts say so."😀
  2. These are some very basic stats; but in 82 games (each), the Twins have scored 9 more runs and have walked 43 more times than the Marlins. Yes, the Twins have stuck out 173 more times, and the Twins have hit 27 more HR's and 92 less total hits. As far as (again, very basic) pitching numbers go, the Twins are better, though not appreciatively better, than the Marlins. From what it looks like, the teams should be fairly comparable, but Miami is perceived to be much better, and they are 8 games better, but that should not be the case. Would one hitter, albeit an exceptionally good one, flip the script that significantly? To be honest, there are only a few really good teams, a few really bad teams, and the Twins are in the mediocre group ... with 20 other teams. I expected 85 wins and hoped for 95+ and so far, they should be somewhere between those two numbers, I hope.
  3. I wonder if Glen Taylor can sit down and look eye-to-eye with Buxton or Correa? It worked so well with the underperforming Wiggins.
  4. I feel bad for AK. He came up up looking like he was really squaring up the ball and now he looks like most of the remaining hitters. I'm not a big RISP guy, but did I read we were 0-23 in the series? Seriously?
  5. I'm pretty sure I heard Scotty Ullger screaming "swing like a man!" earlier this season. I'm glad it's resonating with the ballclub!
  6. I know this is beating the parenthetical dead horse, but MLB could make the draft more interesting by allowing all trades, including slotted dollars, and making it a three-day affair. Day 1: 1-5 Day 2: 6-10 Day 3: 11-15
  7. Those prospect losses wouldn't hurt so much if we had received value in the Berrios trade.
  8. Sadly, you have to give up something to get something. No more of those Nick Punto and a middling prospect for X superstar trades, I guess.
  9. It really doesn't begin to matter until Memorial Day. After that, let's see where they are.
  10. Megill looks horrible, but he has decent stuff. Is he headcase or just doesn't know how to pitch. His mom is nice looking too!😉
  11. I wonder how high SD's spending to revenue is? 65%? 70%? Their owners are willing to spend the money to win it all. Good for them and the Padres fans!
  12. Elite? Trading a guy that can hit and doesn't K much for a good starting pitcher? Meh.
  13. Yes. Yes. Yes. Miranda's range at third is about what Farmer's is at short.
  14. Since Carlos Gomez. I don't watch much minor league ball, except for the Saints, and way too many of the Twins' young players seem to be fraught with simple low-IQ baseball mistakes/ It was really hear Gladden mention it a few times on the radio. He was referring, mostly, to Celestino, but was not exclusive in his criticism.
  15. "Gotta agree with everything here EXCEPT that Byron Buxton wasn't worth the contract. Even injured, he has performed at a value that far exceeds what he is being paid for 2022." Buxton has a team-friendly contract and that's the only way it would work. As it now appears, BB will miss 70 games and of the 92 he's played, 35 were as a DH. We need to back off the "even injured" mantra.
  16. I'm still waiting for Max Kepler to reinvent his hitting approach, ala Corey Seager.
  17. Gallo is actually not a horrible outfielder. Watching Wallner play, I'm not I would want him in my outfield ... at the MLB level, Can he play first base?
  18. At this stage of his career, I wouldn't have any confidence in Royce Lewis' ability to stay healthy. Many people said that about Buxton, during his minor league years, and they were spot on. Besides, Correa is damned close to being an elite defensive shortstop, something Royce may never be,
  19. He may opt out of his current contract, but can the team afford to let him leave? I believe the team will present a decent five-year offer in his direction and he may consider it. It seems like he enjoys his teammates, and the team seems to like was he has presented on and off the field. He was one of the reasons I've been to a couple dozen games this season. If they let him leave and choose not to spend any money for 2023, I'll be back to a small number of games, and I believe many other fans will feel the same. Fortunately for the Twins, the division isn't particularly good, and the White Sox have been plagued by injuries and questionable managerial in-game decisions. Unfortunately, the Guardians have played very solid Tom Kelly-esque ball, but how long they can maintain it, who knows? The division is there for the taking and it's time for the Twins to begin playing like they want it, playoff success be damned.
  20. Disagree. Prospects are just that and you must sacrifice something to get something. I believe the team could have made these moves hurt less, had they done them a couple of weeks ago, but I'm glad they did it and are looking forward. Hey, make it to the playoffs and anything can happen. Teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc. can maintain the pressure, but a team like the Padres cannot and they are going all in this season. The Twins have now put a stick in the parenthetical window, thus giving them a couple of more years to keep it open. Let's rock this, MF'ers!
