  1. For the sake of blaming the owners, the front office, the manager/coaches, and the players, one might say that the parenthetical chickens have come home to roost. Coming into this season, it appeared there was absolutely no formidable business plan, only hopes, prayers, and wishes.
  2. "For some, this fade--a second one in three years, whether it ends as badly as 2022 did or not--is confirmation that Baldelli is not a good manager. I disagree, vehemently. However, this tendency to struggle late in seasons--to go along with the grind and let it wear them to a nub, which we saw even to some extent in 2019 and 2020--does seem to be a pattern for his teams. That might be because, given the shape of the team they're trying to build, the organization has chosen the wrong model for the manager role." Umm, okay.
  3. If this team's future is one of Buxton and Correa being part-time players, we can expect more of the same ... especially if the owners keep the budget as low as this season.
  4. Zebby's last game was tough. Sometimes, and it's very early in his MLB career, it's good to get that eye-opening game to use as motivation.
  5. "Not Rocco's fault. Not Falvey and Levine's fault." They should share some of the blame. "That leaves ownership." Wherein most of the blame lies. " ... it’s a wonder these guys can even play .500." Thankfully, there are teams as medicocre, or worse, than the Twins! All said, there have been some pleasant discoveries, in unexpected areas, and that is a positive.
  6. I hope he wears inserts!
  7. "Similarly to the Twins, the Guardians face payroll limitations because of their market size." Nonsense. The Royals, Padres, and Tigers have significantly higher payrolls than the Twins and Indians. Both teams couls easily afford to be in the $85m range, they just choose not to. Clevland has the youngest team in the league and could make a serious run at a title if the spent $20m+ more!
  8. "Eventually, the Twins took a one-year deal to return to Diamond Sports because it brought in an estimated $40-45 million." Try $46.8m, plus the limited media MLB rights pool the CBA negotiated. The Twins spend a few year trying to convince the fans that the RSN revenue was about $43m when it was actually just under $56m, so I wouldn't trust them if they told us what the compensatory amount was.
  9. Most would argue that the loss of less than $9 million in television revenue idicates they still had plenty to spend.
  10. Why even watch this team ... even if you can? They just are not good enough to beat good teams, and the management's failure to make the team better has created a great deal of apathy amongst the fan base. What a sad, sad mess this team has become.
  11. The difference is the team is on the hook for much less money with Margot than with Gallo.
  12. My buddy, Rob, owns a mid-size tech firm and he has had such an unpleasant interaction with DSP that he canceled his corporate suite. Also, if anybody recalls how the guides were treated when the All Star games was here, they would have nore insight into DSP too. He treated those people like crap and most of them were longtime fans, tickets holders and seniors. The other stuff, I have no idea about, but as a former STH, he always seemed like a self-serving and condescending prick to me.
  13. I know it's just a game, but I've been watching this team as a kid. In fact, the only reason I have kept Xfinity is because of Bally's, and I have always had to top tier of channels. That said, yesterday, I canceled my cable altogether and dropped my internet from 1200mbps to 150mbps because I will not longer be streaming much. I don't blame the Twins, I don't blame Comcast/Xfinity, and I don't even blame Bally's - it's just a combination of not wanting to deal with the headache of watching games and spending so much time indoor ... maybe. Anyhow, I'm still a Twins fan, but their entire approach to the 2024 season left a little to be desired and I'm getting the sinking suspicion that they may not be as fan-friendly as they want us to think they are. In the end, I'm saving about $175 per month and may spend more time enjoying a beautiful Minnesota summer. Sigh.
  14. I don't think many of us complained about the spending in 2023, but they could have improved the team and the trade deadline and didn't. In a season where it was anybody's guess who would win it all, I wish they had made a push. This team will win 90 games this year and that may be enough to get 2+ million fans in the stands and they should be exciting, at the very least.
  15. Not dogging the site, Seth, but I may have read it on ESPN or a Brewers site. I don't think the Twins own RSN income affects them as much as the collective downturn in many teams' RSN dollars. That said, I believe the CBA is a year behind, i.e. this season's numbers would be reflective of 2022, but who know.
  16. Same crap as the players, right? Fact is, a few of us know something about something and the rest is wild speculation. If you despise it so much, you are free to leave.
  17. I wonder if either is aware of the most recent CBA wherein "Article XXIV - The Revenue Sharing Plan" was implemented in 2022? https://www.mlbplayers.com/_files/ugd/4d23dc_d6dfc2344d2042de973e37de62484da5.pdf
  18. I read somewhere, they will receive $46.58m, in 2024, from BSN. It was from a TD type of site so consider the source.
