  1. SWR, Martin, and Pereda might be locking themselves into MLB roster spots next season. Pereda looks like the best defensive catcher we've had in years and he's hit a little too. SWR and Martin, tow guys that I wrote off, seem to be working hard to earn the team's trust.
  2. Meh. Just another day at the ballpark for this sad looking organization. Let's hope some big off-season is forthcoming for all of the teams.
  3. Kody freakin' Clemens ... who would have thought? Three bombs in a game and nineteen for the season! If he and Outman didn't have so many bad at-bats, they could become really dangerous hitters! Watching the Royals reminded he how good "quality" AB's be. Th power is there, they just need to tone down the ugly swings, I guess.
  4. Let's not forget Buxton and Joe Ryan, who, along with Pablo Lopez, are the only legitimate players on this team. Keaschall is good, as is Martin, Jeffers, and (half the time) Wallner, Lee, Larnach, and Lewis. Sadly, the bullpen is Cole Sands and nobody else. Despite Gasper's clutch hit, he's among a chosen few that belong nowhere near an MLB roster. He is actively competing for that title with Outman, Julien, Fitzgerald, Clemens, Keirsey, and the remaining bullpen members not named Sands, but especially the completely worthless Noah Davis!
  5. Ryan and Lopez will be traded, and why wouldn't they want to? Hopefully, they will both be worth multiple high-level prospects, but who knows?
  6. Maybe even Sands, who hit 97 MPH on Wednesday. Curiously, SWR hit 96 in the same game. Though I'm not a Sands fan, when he stays ahead in the count, he's pretty impressive.
  7. I wouldn't be so sure. Some team may even oppose it because they make more money by not spending money than they do by spending it. What is some owners were forced to have a soft and hard floor, like a soft and hard cap? What if rosters were expanded by one or two players? The players and their union need something to fight for and the possibility of more money and more MLB opportunities is right in their parenthetical wheelhouse.
  8. Brooks Lee shouldn't be afforded the luxury of the complimentary hitting analysis. He was not very good in the field and worse on the basepaths! Also, and maybe more importantly the comment, "What I see is a losing culture starting to crystallize ... ," should be no surprise as the teams has done nothing to improve since the the summer of 2023. The fans have notices, as have (apparently) the players, probably and the manager and his coaches, and the GM too! There is no sense "piling on" a team that has very little talent and nothing at stake, but for the life of me, how did we trade that many players and only receive one or two legitimate prospects?
  9. Like most of the commenters, I have played a lot of different sports, on a lot of different teams, at a lot of different levels and in my mind, I tried to control only what I did. That said, as a very athletic, but talentless, hack, I did the best I could and tried not to be influenced by what was happening around me. However, when I would hear coaches or teammates denigrating other players or coaches, it really bothered me. Unfortunately, I fell victim to the same trap of many who play team sports, and I'm not sure if I was part of the solution or part of the problem ... probably both. I was definitely a front-runner when things were going well and a David-downer when things were bad. When my kids played sports, I liked to coach, but realized that would bever be my forte. Was it me, the players, the parents, the league, the sport, the rules, etc., who knows? Probably all of the above. Coaching highly-paid athletes must be a less than fantastic job. Some coaches, like O'Connell and Fleck are enthusiastic leaders. Some like Baldelli, Finch, and Hynes seem uninterested. Some like TK and Reeve always seem crabby; yet, they are the only ones with titles. My lengthy dissertation aside, maybe it's as simple as just another voice being needed.
  10. So, the two groups combined to pay a greater amount than the $340 million for their collective 20% share was worth? Sounds to me that the over-inflated purchase vs. percentage was probably close to the debt amount, and that those two ownership groups have a vested financial interest in a "more profitable" Minnesota Twins organization. It's hard not to be a fan of the Brewers and Padres. Two teams that approach building a roster in different ways, but continue to be successful.
  11. I'm not surprised. When a team cannot even attract lower-level billionaires (like Tampa did), you know the organization has more than one issue.
  12. See ball, hit ball = Kirby Puckett It was fun watching Puck in spring training and BP because he swung at, pretty much, anything and everything, that's who he was and he figured that's what he did. It was fun to watch him hit a ball a few inches off the ground or one that was head-high. Sure, it made for some ugly at-bats, but the man would swing the bat with a purpose. Of course, Puck never saw a pitch over the plate that he didn't like, almost Bomba Squad-ish! As the Common Man might say, either you're on to something or you're on something when you link Correa to the odd at-bats by the team.
  13. I still wish they would have tried to get Kendall George. Speed kills and he has lots of it!
  14. Is that $440 million part of the cost or in addition to the cost?
  15. I'm not sure that type of business move is prevalent in the world of pro sports. Does buying a team with a lower payroll make sense to someone who wants to win? Probably not, and I'm not sure the recent sale of any pro sports team was predicated on slashing payroll and letting go of players with team control and a future to enhance attendance, whether in person, online, on television, or radio.
  16. It pays off if the team has many high-level prospects, something the Twins lack.
