  1. Crystal clear video and sound is all I care about. I like the broadcasting crew, but if they had none or less of the pre and post game shows, I would be fine with that too. I'm a simple man, with simple needs.
  2. There is no guarantee that a billionaire owner will spend the money to bring in talent, especially when losing a boatload of money is part of the process. The Dodgers local media money will, pretty much, cover their entire MLB payroll. Add in 81 sellouts, concessions, merchandise, and the national TV contracts, and they still make a large amount of money! If competing means just winning the division, that's a whole other story, and that is something the new owners could do and that is something the Pohlad owenership could have and should have done. It might have netted another $100 million in the sale of the team.
  3. "The player he describes as the minority owner will most likely be Joe Mauer." Joe's a minority?
  4. Well, we know one thing for sure. The White Sox will still be looking up at the Twins.
  5. That being the case, Rocco must be feeling the same as most fans in wondering what the FO is doing to help make his job easier. The Twins seems like a handful of teams that seem to have no interest in winning, nor do they care about their fans. In the words of Joe Mauer, "it's frustrating."
  6. Is that enough to leapfrog Cleveland, Detroit, and KC? Offensively, this team just is not built well enough to score runs, so (as always) pitching and defense will be the key to 90+ wins. Dark days lie ahead of us.
  7. Realistically, what can be expected of Correa, Buxton, and Lewis? Move all three of them.
  8. Well, one has reached his peak and will only get worse while the other may never be great but has some upside ... I think.
  9. "We are talking about a very small group of individuals that can do this." It's not as small as it used to be.
  10. I'm not so sure. As I've stated previously, the expanded TC media market is approximately 4.5 million strong and advertising futures will drive the value of the deal. It always astounded me how the Padres were able to negotiate a substantially better deal with the then FSN RSN than the Twins. Not only is their immediate market smaller but so is their expanded one!
  11. For those who don't fear the team being moved, look at the St. Louis Rams situation. Not exactly apples-to-apples, but the value of the vastly increased revue opportunity outweighed any possible legal ramifications. If the team is sold, I hope the fist person terminated is the bloviating self-promoter, Dave St. Peter!
  12. The cash cow is never gone, look at the NFL and NBA. MLB needs to change and the first place to start in to cut the season down to about 120 games and make sure the right owners are with teams in the right markets. That being the case, MLB teams still bring in a $100+ million in national revenue alone, but due to a few large market teams not wanting to share, the national deals will never explode like other leagues; hell, even the NHL is finally beginning to understand that
  13. Some day, Calos Correa will make a great first-baseman and/or DH!
  14. For a big as he was, he did pretty good. Sadly, had he taken better care of himself, he would have had a near HoF career ... not that those things mattered to him.
