Twins on Cuban defectors?

Wolfson reported that the Twins were watching two Cuban defectors, Misael Siverio and Odrisamer Despaigne.

 

 

Both are short guys and Despaigne apparently throws a knuckleball but neither would count against the international spending limit b/c of the Cuban exception and both would probably start in AAA or lower.

These guys are not top prospect kind of guys. Misael Siverio is 24 and lefty and Odrisamer Despaigne is 28 and righty. Neither of them are that great and are not better than what the Twins already have in their system. I think they were doing due diligence, that's about it. Cannot see them giving them any bonus to play, since they can sign equivalent or better MiLB FA without a bonus.

I don't think Despaigne really throws a knuckleball. I think it was a half joke made by a scout last fall because nobody knew anything about the guy.

Says he has a curve, slider and good change up. Doesn't throw very hard and didn't get a lot of strikeouts in his Cuban League.

Agree, I wrote a topic on this a few months ago and the Twins have spent almost $4 Million less on prospects this year then last so they certainly have the funds available.

Boring... All I hear is that the Twins are in on this guy and that guy but you know they are not making any moves that would be major.
