Be a pretty wild squad if we brought back Johan, Garza, Pierzynski and then added Nolasco and Arroyo. I'd be frickin' excited for next year. Unfortunately, we'll likely only end up with one of the players.

Just for fun:

Garza (4 years 55 million) 13.75

Nolasco (4 years 55 million) 13.75

Arroyo (2 years 19 million) 9.5

Pierzynski (1 year 6 million) 6

Santana (1 year for incentives) 3

=46 million for 2014

=35 million for 2015

=27.5 million for 2016

=27.5 million for 2017

The rest of these numbers look about right, but I'd say you're ~10MM off the total on Garza. I would be shocked... SHOCKED! if the Twins were seriously considering paying him (not that I'd be upset about it if they did.)

I would be more than happy with the above, even with an additional $5 million or so that it would really take. Because it goes down next year and we lose 2-3 guys and replace them with rookies in their sophomore year. We still have tradebait. We can still add someone in 2016 and 2017 if we need to add someone, even two someones. This perfectly illustrates the no-brainer of spending money that is there and still being solid as the years approach and new talent starts to thrive. When we reach some arbitration, we still have a low payroll and and all these guys would be gone fer sure when free agency hits out new crop of players. Go for it, Twins. Put bucks and butts back in the seats.

1. Matt Garza is getting 5 years and $70+ million.

2. I would offer Johan Santana a one-year deal for $2.5 million with huge incentives up to $10 million and an option for 2015 that is also large, and $2 million buyout)

3. Nolasco is grotesquely overvalued by the league and is vomit-worthy to consider paying him anything beyond 3 years and $30 million.

4. A.J. is a much better idea than involving Fryer. The only point, though, is to see what the Twins could get from him at the trade deadline.
