  1. Ryan has been back 29 months and many of feel we can contend in 2015 and for many years thereafter. That's soon enough for me.
  2. Mike, correct me if I'm wrong, but you also wanted us to sign Alex Guerrero and Miguel Gonzalez. With Diaz, that makes 4 in one year.
  3. Could you name the 4 starting pitchers you see them using before Gibson?
  4. Unlike other sports, the baseball draft is based almost solely on projection, seldom production. Note, I clearly stated if the Twins feel he is the BPA, not that they should draft for need. First I've heard he's a Everth Cabrera type.
  5. If our favorite team based their decisions solely on talent, then Gibson would be behind Stewart and possibly Thorpe also. Posters have theorized Gibson was ready last season by the end of May, he was brought up around mid-June. Can anyone give a credible example where the Twins blocked a starting pitching prospect which is not measured in days, hours, minutes, and seconds?
  6. I don't recall anything that says he doesn't project gap power. If the Twins feel he is the BPA and he will plays a premium position, who has greater upside? Honestly, I really don't care who the Twins take, I've just followed Turner the closest. We need a long term solution at SS and Turner will most likely be available.
  7. I'm not saying he doesn't let his scouting director make the decision, but the pros and cons are certainly presented to him and he has veto power. Everyone has always said Ryan is involved in all decisions, to think he is not intimately involved in this one is silly.
  8. Anyone who knows the Twins, knows Terry Ryan will make the final decision and everyone and his brother will see Trea Turner play and provide input. They are not going to leave this decision to Joe Area Scout. If Turner is a clunker the blame with fall on Ryan, if he becames a star the board will credit Bill Smith.
  9. I just e-mailed Seth that one of the TOP 2014 Stories should be on blocking. He responded in a language I don't understand.
  10. If the Twins decide Turner is the BPA, I have no problem with it. You can google practically as much info as you want on Turner and the vast majority is very positive. I don't recall seeing him referred to as a slap hitter, nor one word questioning whether he could stay at SS. Turner is rated by at least some as a 4 tool player, with power being below average. By below average, one said only 12-15 HR's. Our favorite team saw Stewart throw every pitch for two years. No reason to believe the Twins will use any less diligence on our next pick.
  11. Compared to what his countrymen are getting, it looks like dumpster diving to me.
  12. I've already conceded that, are the win now guys, now satisfied with 2 or 3 more wins for the next 5 years?
  13. It will take more than Kepler to get the catcher, so let's say goodbye to Polanco also, since this is just pretend anyway. Catcher has now become an organizational strength and we've picked up 2 or 3 more wins in 2014. Now what?
  14. Mike, you peaked my interest, let's continue this train of thought. We could get the Houston catcher for a Kepler type or 2, and Lee for a Polanco type or 3. Seems that would gut our farm system to win a few more games in 2014 and not sure the guys would like to see Pinto aced out.
  15. . I never follow the senior circuit, but continue to catch bits and pieces about the Cardinal Way, and about how our favorite team should adopt their practices. Is there any way you could start a thread outlining these practices, so we can discuss? I have to admit I've always taken references to the Cards, A's, Rays, Cub's etc. as unsubstantiated opportunities of taking unwarranted shots at our favorite team.
