Astros Owner Reportedly Blocked Trevor Larnach Trade as Twins Continue Deadline Push

My "this year" was purely in regards to the performance of those 3 players "this year" as in spin the roulette wheel and any one of those guys looks passable at different parts of the last few years. If anything, it's nice to see that at least one of them has panned out enough to hold the spot (for now).   Do we see "what we got" in Jenkins and "start the clock"? We do need to shed a couple guys though and I'd rather see it based on performance vs. pocketbook (within sensibility).

Hard to tell based on the past few days because the moves have been measured.  However, Tom Pohlad seems to have been in the mode you describe since the day he took over.  He has had an exaggerated sense of this team's relative ability to contend and a major emphasis on the right now versus building a legit contender.  I just hope they don't do something dumb.

Rodriguez has averaged 53 games per year for last 4 years ……. the only one blocking him is Emma!

Martin has been up and playing for 3-4 years, when he’s stayed healthy. He played in  platoon with Larnach for 10 weeks - actually displaced Wallner, until his bat went cold.

How in the hexx is Larnach blocking Wallner?? They are the same age & Wallner was playing RF every day with Larnach on the same roster. Wallner sucked, that’s why he’s back down in St Paul for the 3rd time in 4 years (hurt last year).

If Team thought Mendez was better than Roden, he would have been promoted.

Jenkins for Roden & Culpepper for Gray over next 2-3 weeks, outstanding!!

Larnach IS the 2nd best hitter on the Team. He is under control next year. He’s ideal for DH….. platoon with Buxton/Keaschall. He can play defense if needed, unlike current DH. Again, Larnach IS the 2nd best hitter on roster and he too, was a highly touted, first round draft pick. Now he’s performing and people want to trade him to see IF someone else may be able to hit. No sense to that thinking:

Only took Larnach five years to prove he might belong.  Seems like if the next guy can do it in three that would be progress.

Any Larnach decision has little to do with pocketbook.  I have no issue "starting the clock" on Jenkins.  Also wouldn't mind seeing "what we got" on the others as well.  May well not get the opportunity in 2027.  Might also be playing by different CBA rules by the next time we see guys on the field after October.  One of which might be a five year "clock" rather than six years.  Decisions might need to be accelerated.  Not something we've been good at.

Astros on a six game winning streak and Abreu pitching well. Add that to plays like the one in left from today’s first inning and you can see why Crane vetoed this trade.

The Twins offense has been struggling lately, trading Larnach away would hurt quite a bit. Abreu would be nice, but Larnach is an everyday starter and overall the trade would make the team worse. I'm not sure I believe the report, given the source isn't said to be entirely credible.

The Twins addressed the issue with Larnach so he doesn’t quit on the organization. So I think it was real and clearly the Astros owner is the real GM. He negotiated the Correa deal last year too. Thank goodness he did to take on the remainder of C4’s salary
