Eye test. CP can put hitters away. The stuff is there. With Sim, it was a struggle a lot of times. Never really developed that out pitch and as the league adjusted to him, it became even harder to pitch effectively. Book still out on CP, but his swing and miss stuff plays. Sim never had that to his game.

I’m not comparing their abilities. Priellipp clearly has better stuff. I’m talking about the fan perception of what have you done for me lately? How quick will Priellipp become trash if his ERA continues to tumble?

And I like Sim and rooting for him. He still might find his way in the majors but the Twins ran out of patience. Should they have? Probably not because cheap arms are everything in baseball but it is what it is.

My issue with pulling SIm out of the rotation was never because he didn't deserve to be pulled.  It was more that they didn't have a plan or a backup plan since both Rojas and Ober immediately go down after making this move.

CP is so young and inexperienced that he'll get some grace from fans.  SWR has 61 starts and 300+ innings across five seasons. He's a vet and should have his stuff sorted by now.  It's why TAM gave up on Taj, which also illustrates that not everyone figures things out in a fixed amount of time or from their first org.  SWR may just need to move on to hear the right voices.

Listen to yourself. They had Ober and Rojas on hand and Sim was getting worse with each start. They were the plan that was foiled by two guys hitting the IL on the same day.

Rojas goes down.  Sim comes in for the first time in his career pitching with less than 4 days' worth of rest and gets pounded right on queue.  Prielipp was shaky at the time so there was a need for some form of a long man in case Prielipp has another short start.  Sim gets DFA and then Ober immediately goes down.  I stated at the time that there didn't seem to be any direction with the move, just that they were so desperate for bullpen help that he had to go.  We still see the effects now as our old friend TBD is pitching for us on Thursday.  While the bullpen has greatly improved, we still do not have a bullpen that can do a full game every fifth day, especially while we are still on the backside of 17 straight games.

across five seasons.

Boy that is a stretch since he made 1 start in 2021 and 1 bulk appearance the following season. When he was up for good it was 2 WAR seasons and a complete overreaction this year.

I think Thursday it will be Paredes with Adams piggybacking him. No insight just a thought.

@Vanimal46 You were asking about fan impressions and they've been hearing his name forever. I bet most of them don't even remember who was traded to bring him here.

I get your point but really Sim left the team no choice: he had to come out of the MLB lineup and he was out of options. The team certainly isn't giving up on him, but DFA is the only way to move around a guy with his seniority and his problems.

At this point they can only hope the rest of the league thinks he's hurt, pigheaded or just below average and see if he gets through to St Paul.  He's probably a decent #4 guy when he's right, but given how long it's been since he was consistently effective there's a 50-50 chance he's either hurt or just not able to sustain his performance over time.  Maybe he goes to the pen for someone and gets all Griffin Jax for them. Good luck to him, hope he's throwing for us when he figures it out.

No, they definitely had a choice. Funderburk was just sent down 3 days later. Are we better off losing 25 year old SWR for a 31 year old I had to look up his name again Justin Lawrence? It was reported SWR was lost because they needed a fresh bullpen arm on May 31, 2026 in a lost season.

LACK OF TALENT AT THE M/L/B/ LEVEL

Reading the Game Thread shortly after the game is over. First of all, nice win. Prielipp got through a tough inning and went six plus. Good for him!

Gray had another go-ahead RBI hit and the lineup did a good job against a guy who had been outstanding for the first two months of the year.

I only saw about five minutes of the game and witnessed an infield hit by Acuna that more often than not is an out. The White Sox had four infield hits out of their total of eight knocks. Should any of the other three have been turned into an out? Jackson was charged with two errors including his second catcher's interference call, so the Pale Hose got some help from the Twins. Still, the team allowed only four runs and scored enough to win.

A lot of discussion about Royce Lewis, who homered twice more tonight in St. Paul. While Lewis deserved to be sent down with poor play, he also is doing what he can to come back and be a productive player, at least on the field. He was a mess when demoted, but the swings he is making in Triple A look short, strong and powerful. I wonder if he just needed to breath and let his natural talent and swing take over.

According to the Fielding Bible, Lewis has a -1 defensive runs saved, the same number that Gray and Lee have in fewer games and innings. Is he a horrible defensive player? I think not and all of this discussion about him changing positions is overblown. If he can be a good hitter (115-125 OPS+) slightly below average defense at third base isn't a team-killer and I believe there is no reason why he can't improve to average or better.

Brooks Lee is playing third base because he doesn't have enough tools in his toolbox to be an everyday shortstop and he is currently an average major league hitter, while Royce Lewis has not been. If Lewis can outhit Lee, there is no reason why Lee should be playing in front of him.

I think there has been enirely too much speculation about Lewis' personality, entitlement, selfishness and character. We don't know him personally and interpreting what he has said to the media probably doesn't fully portray what type of person he is. I will add that Lewis has made a career's worth of awkward statements, so some of the distaste for him is probably justified.

Well said Stringer Bell, concur with all of what is said here.
