Lee is a good example of what great minor league development & coaching could (but in this case, didn't) do...

The Twins were aware Lee couldn't hit from the right side of the plate so they worked with him on improving that in the minors. There's nothing preventing Lee from being successful at the MLB level in terms of Lee's swing. Lee seems to struggle with pitch recognition and confidence to swing hard more frequently.

He was a high floor (not a high ceiling) prospect who was massively overhyped here. Unlike most position players coming up through the Twins' system, Lee's been given a very long leash to underperform and make adjustments. I think he's perfectly fine as a backup utility infielder.

Anyway you look at it, he does not have the potential skillset worth giving him this much runway. Even Outman can at least steal a base.Lee, unfortunately, is not Kyle Farmer competent at Short, does not hit for power, doesn't have a strong arm, and is slow. I would love to see him prove me wrong, but seeing Culpepper perform has me dreaming of a new tomorrow.

Not sure why people keep ripping Larnach.   He was second or third on the team last year in hits and is one of the leading hitters on the team.  No hes not a great defender but is still better than some of the guts sent out there.  Brooks Lee getting ripped by writers on Twins Daily is getting old and worn out.  The same negatives can be said by many in that lineup.  It's time for you guys to rip someone else.

Larnach nor Lee are 'one of us'

Lee going to St Paul is not some kind of death sentence; lots of players get sent down and come back (and it isn't like the 40-man is made of giant barriers). The guy looks like he could be a solid player, but he clearly needs some work at the plate, and that doesn't have to happen at the MLB level. I could see him in St Paul by mid-May (or much sooner), but I also think it is far more likely he is on the 26-man in August than Gray, Kreidler, Arcia, Outman, or Clemens.

Counting stats don't tell you much on a team severely lacking in ironmen.  Larnach led the team in games and plate appearances so good for him in that regard, but leading with 142 games means that counting stats say more about the other players.  And finishing with second most hits (and first in virtually nothing besides walks) when he had the most PA also undercuts your point concerning a bat-first player.

93 major leaguers had more plate appearances in 2025 than Trevor.  That's 3 per team on average.  Many of those guys would have stood to lead the Twins in various counting stats if they had been with the team.

And since Larnach spent no time in 2025 on the injured list, you might ask why his manager felt the need to cherry-pick the opportunities for this player, rather than play him every day.

Few if any are "ripping" Larnach.  Some of us provide meaningful data.
