Pittsburgh is who I thought they were. A missed field goal away from having watched this one on the couch. They need a new direction organization wise.

Hope no one tells Pitt about the revolution in offense since 1990.

Aaron Rodgers looked so old. Watching that game, it seems crazy that he somehow stayed healthy all season.

Which is why, for me, any "think of what the Vikes coulda done with Rodgers this year" argument falls flat.  They would've had to ship him back from Europe in multiple pieces playing behind that empty husk of an o-line they were rolling out at that point in the season

Incredible run for Tomlin. But if I was his PR guy I would tell him to take the retirement offer (an Offer you can’t refuse .. instead of being let go)

Pittsburgh refuses to fire coaches so Tomlin is gonna have to force the issue. 19 years is a hell of a run at one organization. He should take a year to reset for years 20 - ? of his HC career

Yeah, he never would have survived. And if he did, he didn't look like a QB that could get you out of the first round on any team.

For a guy known for getting rid of the ball quick, he didn't seem to be able to do that any longer. He didn't have MUCH time, but I watched the Chargers game thinking Herbert had no shot, while watching this game I was thinking, get rid of the ball.

In this situation, I wonder if he'd go back to coaching or if he'd do something on TV. There have been plenty of former players and coaches who ended up being good in media platforms, but I don't remember ever thinking, 'Man, Tony Romo is going to be a great commentator!'

Tomlin on the other hand has always felt like he was a host of some ESPN daytime program who just happened to be an NFL coach.

I hope those 11 catches for 142 yards was worth burning a bridge Adam... The Vikings will forgive and forget, but not immediately...

Still though....you're in a great football town, have good owners, and a fantastic culture.

They have got to get someone in the room that can get them a new QB though.  Not hand-me-downs.....a real QB.

Couldn't agree more. The problem is he is torpedoing his trade value. 3rd offseason in a row he's gotten in trouble with the law. I can't really see any team giving up more than a 4th round pick for this headache.

I never read of hard feelings.

I honestly didn't care and suspect most of the team didn't either. They were out of it and he was buried on the depth chart. And probably since they were out of it, they were already considering making him a healthy scratch if only to give Felton some reps. Which of course he still barely got. Thielan played less than 7% of the offensive snaps in his last game as a Viking. I think he was probably about done playing outside of some token routes to send him off in the last game or so.

Such a screw up. Reading another article, the address he was picked up at looks to be a Hard Rock hotel in Tampa. And he was arrested at 3:45 AM. Tons of restaurants in this hotel but I don't see any open past midnight on Mondays, so he was probably kicked out of the hotel itself, but refused to leave.

So I'd guess at that time of night he was drunk. Probably not high because Florida isn't shy from charging people for that. And probably nothing violent or he'd have been charged with that as well.

So what do you do with this clown? He's probably untradable at this point. I wouldn't mind cutting him, but obviously that will impact a certain young QBs development. He was his favorite target.

Yeah, I think 1) he's been mostly ok during the season with one missed walkthrough in England, 2) no trade value at all, so we have to keep him and see what happens. But, gads, his agent must be furious.

It's official. Mike Tomlin stepping down from the Steelers. Taking a TV job most likely.

Wow.

Zac Taylor is now currently the only head coach employed by the AFC North

Also keeps this impressive streak alive: the Steelers haven't fired a head coach since the AFL was still in existence

Just a week ago it felt like whoever lost the Ravens Steelers game was gonna get fired. Turns out both were due after 18 and 19 years with their teams. This finally sparks Pittsburgh to start a rebuild that they've been pushing off the last 7-8 years.

I suggested earlier that Pittsburgh is Flores' best shot.  And it probably still is, still, with how disappointing their offense has been since Roethlisberger retired, they might have to turn to that side of the ball.

For the record, Addison's 5th year option is projected to be $17.5 million guaranteed. We have to decide this offseason whether to do that or not. And I don't know how you can. It's continuing to enable him to make terrible decisions off the field.

I think you pretty much have to keep him and, worst case, get a comp pick for him when you let him walk.

That changes if someone gives you a 2nd or a 3rd.  (Which I don't see happening)

I was wrong...I didn't think he'd bow out.  Crazy run he had there.  Uniquely successful.
