It’s too bad the four teams aren’t packed together just a bit closer, going into the final week. It could have been a crazy final week.

Too bad we lost some of those games we could have won. But that’s every team. I wonder if Brosmer starts next week.

I don’t care I like winning better than losing. No matter how meaningless 😂

But what if your meaningless win costs you meaningful wins. Like what will happen if they play the third place schedule vs the fourth place schedule next year.

That’s a fair point. I put more stock in that than draft position once you get put of the top ten. It really only matters in the west though. Difference between playing the cardinals and the others is large. But Washington/ny and Tennessee/indy without a quarterback. Kind of a wash

Thoughts:

* This win sucks.  We're now in jeopardy of losing the 4th place schedule and picking smack dab in the middle of the first.  Blech.

* Turner looked ferocious around the corner today.

* Flores has a pretty simple gameplan for the Lions - blitz and force Gibbs to stay in on pass protection.  Kills their outlet pass and makes Gibbs block (which he's not good at)

* The Detroit offensive line ain't what it used to be

* Please sit JJ another week.  We NEED to lose next week.

As far as the standings go, we all know Dan Campbell will try to win, but GB will have nothing to play for two weeks in a row and the Vikings think a 9-8 record is a good thing. Very possible all three teams end up with 9 wins.

One that you’ll cherish for the rest of your life I’m sure.

In all honesty I had a great time watching the game with my family who are all Vikings fans. My dad is getting up there in age and who knows how many games we have left to watch. It was nice to watch a win on a holiday. I’m of the thinking that if we’re going to be good enough to win a Super Bowl next year, it won’t matter if we play the colts or titans or rams or cardinals.. Beat the best to be the best. Seen plenty of Vikings teams play soft schedules and get exposed in January. The defense is looking wonderful and hopefully Flores doesn’t take off and go elsewhere.

I was impressed that Brosmer didn't give the game away. I wasn't impressed with some of the game calling.

We were playing with THREE backup OL! Obviously the Lions knew this. And I'm sure they adjusted their defense to such, which usually only pressure with 4 and play zone. But I can't believe OKC couldn't have opened the playback a little farther for a couple TE or RB crossing routes

The WR handoff or shovel pass to Addison was BRILLIANT. But maybe there should have been a little more creativity early on considering you were playing a rookie QB?

The defense won this game.

The offense and special teams did enough.

For the 2nd week in a row Brosmer did just enough to win a game. I just think OKC might have held back the reigns a bit too much, even for a rookie QB.

Brosmer is not good. At all. They only won because of the six turnovers. I don't get what people expect KOC to do. Brosmer is lucky not to be on a practice squad.

I expect little of Brosmer going forward. But come on. He's a smart kid with some skills and at least offers SOME potential as a backup option.

In Vikings history, Brad Johsnon and Wade Wilson were, or would have been UDFA based on the current system.

Purdy was the last man standing in his draft.

I'm only stating this kid is a good athlete, has a decent arm, and is smart. He didn't blow last week, and helped win this week by simply not making mistakes. We might just have a solid young backup is all I'm saying.

Part of the problem is that the RBs were dinged up and have been for the last couple games. Would have been nice to lean on them more if possible. I agree the dropback passing game was not working yesterday. He struggles to complete any passes 3 yards ahead of the LOS with any accuracy. I genuinely felt bad at points. Like throwing a AA guy into the MLB rotation because of injuries. Your third stringer can’t get be getting 3 starts and 4 games in one season or you’re in big trouble. He’s probably exactly what he’s ever going to be, emergency backup. I’m assuming he’s starting the last game

A few thoughts

1) If JJ isn't starting next week, they should let Rypian who they resigned or Wolford start. Brosmer is worse than I expected and might not get Jefferson his yards.

2) I was shocked the Vikings won that game. Detroit needed it and we're starting Brosmer. I know some people are upset that the Vikings won b/c of draft position but I will say that a win like that speaks pretty well about the coaching staff. Man, it was a lot of fun watching the defense crush someone like that.

3) Giving props to some lesser players, Levi Rodriguez has had a nice little season, 43 tackles and 8 TFL while pushing Hargrave and Allen for more playing time and Ward has kinda been what we hoped Theo Jackson would be this year.

I also wonder who they’ll start. I can see them putting rypien in there, assuming he knows the offense enough to do it

I don't really know what the perfect comps are but I think Johnson and Wilson were much better than what Brosmer is now.

You do make a good point about Brock Purdy. If Purdy is not selected with that last pick, he may have been consigned to bouncing around as a backup and never getting his big break or big moment. Josh Dobbs got his moment. Caleb Hanie (remember him?) got his moment - coming in to the 2010 NCF Champtionship game as the Bears 3rd string guy, and slinging it. Ultimately those guys weren't good enough to stick except in emergencies and doesn't look like Brosmer will be either.

For anyone curious, Kurt Warner looks at Flores defense and explains how it should be countered. Fun if you like to hear him calling the Lions (paraphrasing) idiots and/or you like him calling Smith "hot" a lot.
