nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Aaaand now Van Ginkel is ruled out. Along with Darrisaw. This is really early for the Vikings to be this short handed. gunnarthor 1
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 I saw that JJM left the team yesterday after practice to be with his fiancee for the birth of their child--congrats to the couple! That said, it will be interesting to see what he looks like having missed a couple of days, and operating on not a whole lot of sleep (I assume). Of course, he absolutely made the right choice to prioritize his family; I would say that even if the game he was deprioritizing was the Superbowl. Just an added little wrinkle to keep an eye on.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 We’ve been abnormally healthy the last couple of years so it was bound to catch up to us.

Unlikely that happens again, so hopefully Flores has a plan to compensate. As has been said by other posters, but is worth reiterating; Turner needs to show up in this game. DocBauer and Vanimal46 2

I don't think that is particularly true. The Vikings presumed #1 QB the last two years has missed 26 games. I don't think any other team is close to that. Jefferson missed seven or eight games as well. Darrisaw missed half a season and still isn't back. Hockenson missed a bunch of games. Pace and Cashman missed 10 games combined last season. I think we signed a DE (Davenport) who missed the whole season, IIRC.

I don't think McCarthy was going to start whether healthy or hurt at any point last year after Darnold's hot start. DocBauer 1
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 Turner gets the opportunity to step up, and he needs to. Van Ginkel out hurts for sure. But the way Flores mixes and matches and mixes up his defense, it might not matter so much for 1 game. Metellus is a Swiss army knife that's used as a quasi LB and pass rusher at times. They may blitz more from the ILB spot for this game. Good bet Murphy comes up from the PS and he and Richter see a few depth snaps. So for 1 game, we shouldn't feel overwatch. But Skule needs a better game at LT this week for sure.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2025 Posted September 14, 2025 Feels like a trap game. I’m pretty concerned about our secondary and coverage overall without Cashman in the middle.

I’m not as confident as you are. No Darrisaw, Addison, Oliver, Cashman, AVG, or Harry the Hitman tonight. That’s a lot of star power…
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Not a promising start for the run defense....

I don’t know if teams still do that. Aggies7 1

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 We’re lucky to be only down 6 at this stage. What a stupid decision to tush push on 4th down
