This club needs a manager with some fire.  Someone who is not afraid to get in some players faces.  Best thing may be can the calvary come fast enough from st Paul.

I probably have the year wrong too but it’s a story that has become part of baseball lore.  Sorry you didn’t enjoy it.

I enjoyed it, just wanted the record set straight.  I was a Dodger fan going back to 'Dem Bums' and 'There is an apple tree that grows in Brooklyn'

Linus, that would have been the 1965 Dodgers (you wrote 1969).  Well, we're TWO games in and already Rocco is driving me nuts.

Why no pinch hit for Vasquez in the 8th inning?  He's arguably the worst hitter on our team in a late game situation.  Jeffers is just sitting on the bench.  And once again, despite tons of empirical evidence that Duran is not good in non save situations, Rocco brings him in down 3 in the bottom of the 8th.

The result, Duran predictably struggles (because the data suggests he will) and Rocco effectively BURNS Duran from being used in a save situation for today.  It's going to be a LONG season.

Linus, I think beckmt and I enjoyed your story (probably a lot of other people too).  But Koufax was done after the 1966 season and Drysdale didn't finish the 1969 season with a shoulder injury and his Dodger career ended then.

I've been a Dodger fan since Sandy Koufax beat our Twins in game #7 in 1965.  Twins are my fav.  But Dodgers are #2.

Yes that was already pointed out. The point of the story was the frustration of having great pitching and no hitting. And it may not even have been Koufax that threw the no hitter - I just think it is a funny story not an examination of baseball history.

Offense looks terrible aside from Larnach. Wallner, Correa and Buxton 0-24. No wonder we're winless. Looks like Correa is hitting everything into the ground again

If he keeps this up I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the league in grounding into double plays again. Twins baseball baby!

That was a comical scoring decision.

Correa gets paid $185,000.00 a game to play shortstop and he can't leave his feet in Game 1 on a first inning dribbler that scored a run.  Game two, he can't glove a ball that bounced off his pitcher, in which he was trying, for some reason, to make a bare-handed pickup, and which, let directly to the Cardinal win.

Listless, at times dreadful, and certainly boring, you have to wonder how excited, how passionate these guys are to put on their jerseys.

Season ain't over by a long shot, but my question is:  When will it even begin?

Too bad we can't just demote him to St. Paul, and bring up Toby Gardenhire as a replacement.

I'm not suggesting that it would necessarily work, but I don't see how it could really be any worse than what we're experiencing now.  Might even be an improvement.

Solid pitching performance. Struggling against a good not great opposing pitcher. Bullpen struggles to make quick work against a good but not great lineup. Only put together 1 run. Uncompetitive at bats and weak grounders and weak pop ups. Hmmmm, sounds a lot like last season. We’ll hear the we’re not worried it’s early in the season until this continues to happen again in May.

They changed hitting coaches, but it looks like the approach hasn’t changed. Trying to pull everything for power and no change in two strike approach. Here’s a quote from Marmol about St. Louis hitting approach:

“The guys have done a really, really nice job of taking their knocks," manager Oliver Marmol said. "Man, that's annoying when you're on the other side of that, when guys don't give in, figure out a way to put it in play and use the whole field.”

It would be good to see the hitters at least try to adjust approach during the game.

Team has no "it", meaning no fire/zest/reason for excitement.  Correa and Buxton will be hurt sometimes, if not season ending injury.  There are zero "superstars" on team.  Yes, Buck and Carlos are good, but not for how much they are on the field, let alone salary wise.  Nice guys, yes, but those don't put the team over the hump.

Also, Twins ownership doesn't seem to want a championship.  They get new stadium, but never go after a real stud, or two, to actually win in the playoffs.  Then, they blame attendance, or lessor of it, for reason for belt tightening.

Lastly, the t.v. rights torked many off!  How can you support a team that is not "all in", let alone can't watch (outstate market, unless you pay!!!), and tickets/concessions/souvenirs/etc. are outrageous at games!

To summize. looonnnggg season,  if you can watch or go to game.  Looks like biking, going to lakes, going to minor league games, bbqing, etc. is what will happen this summer.

Sad!!!!!!

MLB needs a salary floor and ceiling, otherwise make two divisions for the "haves and have not"/small market teams away from large market teams!!!!!

Oh, one last post:

How in the h.e. double toothpick aren't the players physically ready for opening day, with over a month to prepare.  This also goes for NFL football players, when they say "it is early in the season, they are getting their legs, they are knocking the rust off", etc.?!!!! Whatever!!! They have time......and are PROs!!!!!!
