I don't hate the Dodgers, but to me it's clear that Sasaki going there would be the least fun or interesting outcome. They have a lot of good players, they usually figure out how to maximize their already plentiful resources, ho hum.

Of the 3 reported finalists I kind of think Toronto would be the most fun. Or...the mystery team?

Toronto is such a unique outlier in this. A team on the brink of blowing it up must be a hard sell to him, but they seem to have done something well in selling him on their team to some extent. Good for them.

The Dodgers have so many arms in their rotation already it would/will be interesting to see how they handle that.

San Diego was my prediction for his landing spot from the beginning and I'm going to stick with that even though they have some weird ownership infighting right now. Just think they provide the most opportunity for him in a nice location and a team that's invested in winning for essentially the entire length of his initial team control. And a pitcher friendly park to throw in helps, too.

May be irrelevant, but outside of California (Dodgers, Padres, Giants) and Washington (Mariners), and New York (Mets, Evil Empire), Toronto has one of the higher % of Japanese/Japanese American people. Granted it's only a little over 1%, but compared to everywhere else, it's a markedly larger number. Now if Vancouver had a team....

The odds were always 90-10 for LAD. Sasaki was not a free agent like Yamamoto. MLB needs to institute a global draft. Some Latin American players see their value diminished financially due to the current system while a player like Sasaki is free to pick his team if not his price, although he still gets considerably more than the recent Latin signees. The next labor discussions are going to be  ...... interesting? MLB is entering a troubled financial and competitive zone.

I don't understand why teams play along with the Dodgers as an aid in helping them to sign Sasaki. Philadelphia sends international bonus money to the Dodgers for a guy rated #47 last season in the Dodgers system.
