It's really a shame Kirilloff has fallen off after his hot start to the year.

I know this thread is about Margot, but what HAS happened to Kirilloff? Yes, he started off the year on fire but lately has become a strikeout machine. Does he need a reset in AAA or what do the Twins do?

I'd argue for getting rid of the role all together. Why do you have to have a "righty outfield bat?" It's too late at this point, but the decision to find a righty outfield bat instead of the best bat they could was where this problem started. If they weren't so dedicated to platooning as many spots as possible at all costs they never would've brought Margot in.

The core of the Margot problem isn't Margot. It's their strategy forcing them into Margot.

Kiersey Jr is a left-handed hitter, but he's hitting ..301 playing every day. Faster and better outfielder. They can even play centerfield. Oh yah, he is a centerfielder .. but don't hold your breath. Management will never cut Margot because we owe him money, which would signal they made a mistake.

I don't know what people are watching,he is 0-15 as a PH.When playing the outfield you hold your breath on fly balls hit his way.And yes Martin miss played the ball the other night, but even he gives you better at bats.It is time to cut bait and move on.

I wasn't a fan of trading for Margot. I wasn't a fan of how the Polanco money was distributed in general.

However... I don't believe that Margot will end up with a .464 OPS. His numbers are going to come up.

It might take a while but he will have a stretch or two

Margot continually is brought in to pinch hit for kiriloff only to strike out or feeblessly make an out.  I think Margot is a AAA player.  Plus Rocco and the Twins are ruining any chance of Kiriloff developing into a good major league player by the way they don't use him.  Too many potential players career here ruined or shortened by a stubborn, egotistical, poor excuse for a major league manager.  This is why ive said the 6 year control teams have on prospects should be reduced to 4.  Margot is bad.  It may not matter I guess.  The Twins have just enough talent to compete.  There's rumors that next year's payroll will be cut again.  I'm sure it will.

One word sums it up : CHEAP. As I'm foolishly trading for & signing 3 players we didn't need who were cheap.

Miranda, Varland/SWR, Martin were already here and better than Santana, DeSclafani, Margot, Topa.

$15M wasted which could have filled the gaping hole in LF ever since Rosario left.

Yes let our young lefty swingers hit leftys.

While Martin has not lived up to my expectations yet, he has far more upside than Margot.

IDK if Kiersey is the answer, but Margot has to go. If Brooks Lee can catch fire & play 3B, then (as much as I hate to say it) put Lewis in LF. Problem solved.

We really need Stewart, Varland, Topa back in the pen. The bullpen, touted as a strength, is a weak link right now.

There is hope, but not much depth until/if people get healthy.  This latest run has been smoke and mirrors and will not continue.

Vasquez is leaning forward at the plate and will never hit like that. Kiriloff needs to step up and take 1B. Then he and Miranda can fill that role & trade Santana. Cut Margot and fill his spot with Martin, Lee or Kiersey.

Nice bases clearing double today. Article timed out well for a response from Margot.

@Matthew Taylor If you don't mind... write more articles like this about our players because you may have produced 3 runs for us with your keyboard.

For more bang for the buck... Focus on the starters!  If you don't mind. I'd appreciate a similar article aimed at Joe Ryan posted tomorrow morning before he takes the mound against the Jays.

You may have the reverse jinx skills to make everyone forget about the power of the sausage.

Maybe Matthew actually is the sausage traveling incognito.

Not to downplay a 3 run double...well heck, ima downplay a 3 run double.

It was a ground ball. Not a liner to the gap. A few feet to the right, it's an inning ender.

It certainly counts, and he did make fairly hard contact, but in my estimation it's no sign of markedly better hitting.
