madtowntwin Verified Member Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 I distinctly remember watching the video on Brandon after the Twins drafted him last Summer...The fluidity with which he moved - So smooth. No awkwardness with that height. Then reading his Bio and the multisportality. I am fully aware of the prematurity of this conclusion / label, but Dave Winfield came to mind. I know.... wabene and MN_ExPat 2
TopGunn#22 Verified Member Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 MLB Network showed quite a bit of footage of Winokour when the Twins selected him and I was excited by the ease with which he moved for such a big guy and that he looked to have an absolute cannon for an arm. At this point, after the addition of Gabriel Gonzalez, the Twins seem to be loaded with young, talented outfielders. We are still not sure where Winokour will end up: SS? CF? 3B? 1B? Corner Outfield? He looks like he would be a solid defensive addition at any OF position with the benefit of that cannon for an arm. Shortstop would be the premium, but with Correa and Brooks Lee, Tanner Schoebel, Noah Miller, we look to have good depth at SS as well (maybe even Salas). This just gives the Twins more strength to deal some of these guys to add a top flight pitcher in a year or two. Blyleven2011 1

Don't forget E-Rod. MN_ExPat 1

Always keep in mind that draft was uniquely loaded in a unique situation, many teams got well.

The Latin players have brought a more outwardly exuberant style to the game which I like. The all-American kid, Jeffers with his American flag headbands, had about the biggest bat flip last year I've ever seen. I'll bet the vast majority of players like this style of play. They watch NFL players on Sundays, why should those guys have all the fun? Jeffers isn't a punk that stands their and admires a HR. If I'm on the mound, better duck if you do that childish stuff Mike Sixel 1

Pretty sure Ryan got plunked the next day, so your sentiment lives on. Be sure to watch to the end for full effect. https://www.mlb.com/video/will-smith-in-play-run-s-to-ryan-jeffers

Rosterman Verified Member Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 I'm salivating at what the Twins do have in the system when most of the current players have earned out their status as we approach 2026-28, The Twins won't have to trade prospects, just guys either espensive in arbitration or possible free agents as the years roll on.
