They're unlikely to find someone better than Vazquez this offseason and they need to improve CF and SP more than C so they might as well keep him.

In today's budget he is a bargain. Getting a quality player that is a great leader and likely a good reason that our other catcher took a stop forward AND our pitching staff was so good.... at his pricetag..... a VERY good deal.

True it is about a position and can we make the Twins better at this position.

But it sort of sends a mix message that the Twins need to cut because $10M is too much which leads to the the rhetoric of Cheap Pohlads.  (although they were Cheap then seem to be OK spending in the middle 3rd of the league payroll and not the bottom 3rd)

No dilemma at all. Keep Vasquez. Camargo looks like a potentially good backup, but he's not ready yet. Even with a down year by his standards, Vasquez can still be an asset to the Twins. As far as trading him, I doubt we could get much value to make that option worthwhile. Keep him.

The OP is literally about "making the team better" by "reallocating" Vazquez's salary.

 

The post you quoted quite validly said "no. Don't reallocate. Add."
