Royce Lewis and Carlos Correa - they have it. So too does Christian Vazquez and I think he'll have a 'moment' if the Twins make a run in October. But back to Lewis and Correa. Lewis exorcised about 20 years worth of demons in the first inning and Correa's play to get Bichette at home plate - not sure there's too many shortstops - past or present - that could've made that play. I know people soured on Correa after a down regular season but that play is why he's here.

Agreed - it reminded me of the 'Jeter play' as one few shortstops would make.  Correa had a down year offensively - it happens to most every player at some point - but I feel a lot more confident in the Twins defense with him at SS.

EXACTLY what I thought as far as the Jeter play was concerned.

He made a great throw and I am happy the outcome, but if you watch the play he was just standing there, not looking to back up the play, until it goes past Polo.  Then after he sees the ball rolling he goes to get the ball.  Now, if he is backing it up right away, most likely it is just bases loaded because they do not send runner.  I agree without the throw we allow a run, but if he does what he should have done from jump, back up his teammate, then there would not have needed to be a throw.

Correa certainly looked healthier than I remember as he quickly got to the ball when he saw it get by Polanco. And he didn't seem to hurt anything on the twisting throw to home. Correa was covering 2B as I believe Julien was playing a strong pull position on the LH hitter so I'm not going to fault him for where he started out.

I'd say mostly his offense was down. But wow, some of the plays he's made throughout the season, I don't think he's been that down. You realize what a good SS does for your defense and yesterday proved it.

If we're going to talk about clutch then I need to add MAT's name to the discussion. He bailed out his pitcher twice, when it mattered, on balls that just about no one else not named Byron would have hauled in.

Michael A Taylor?  I'm sorry, I think you mean Michael THE Taylor.

Actually, if you watch the play Correa starts behind the second base bag while Julien starts in a strong pull position. Correa takes a couple steps to his right before going to cover second base like he was supposed to with a runner on first. He reacts to Polanco missing the ball when he should. Correa was not supposed to be backing up Polanco, and wasn't in position to do so at the start of the play.
