As the team starts to get ready for the playoffs, there are some players in need of rest (or limited playing time).  Number One on the list should be Carlos Correa.  His feet have been aching all season and hopefully the condition can improve with less playing.
Maybe some of you have others you think would benefit from d as one R & R!

Kepler and Julien have been nursing injuries, I think. Giving days off all around makes sense (Polanco yesterday).

Now is not the time to rest on their laurels. The Twins have not won the division yet.  Win it and then they can coast to game 162. With the limited expanded rosters there's only so many down days available for the players anyhow. As Terry Ryan used to say, somebody has to play the innings.

True, but I think they could call in the entire Saints team and handily beat the White Six 3 of 4.

Take the division first and......with Houston only 5 ahead of the Twins, my guess is they wait a little longer to start resting players.  I know it's a long shot with Hou/Sea/Tex all within 2 games of each other but you never know what could happen in a week.

Couldn’t agree more - a first round bye would be huge for this team (or any team for that matter).  The way the schedule is lining up for the rest of the year, it’s not outside the realm of reasonable probability that the Twins could go on a big run.  Regardless, having solid momentum going into the playoffs would be a big plus for the confidence of this club given our most recent playoff history. Keep the pedal to the metal and see what happens!

My thoughts on resting players would be more like playing them like 3-4 innings or so. Let them get 2 AB and pull some of them.

Correa should be the main target for being rested. They need him at his best for the playoffs and not so much now of course.

Same could go with the big 3 in the rotation. I would try to find a way to limit them in a way but still get them their work in.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. Barring a total meltdown, we should win this weak division, and I don't think we can realistically except any byes, so I think the idea of resting guys like Correa and Jax, and even Julien and Kepler, makes a lot of sense. We need players to be as healthy and focused as possible next month.

We have seen the Twins drop playoff game after playoff game.   The number one priority should be to have the best possible roster of players on the first day.  A rested Carlos Correa is better than one with achy feet.    That is the obvious one.
The season is winding down with the team up 7 over Cleveland.   A first round bye is not very realistic.  Start NOW getting this roster ready to play at the highest possible level.
