For the love of God, someone turn his mic off. He doesn't do good play by play, he doesn't offer many useful insights, and he has no interesting stories. When you want a color commentator, he should know more colors than grey or beige.

Seriously, they need to hire somebody to cover for Bert that has more qualifications than just being a former player with nothing else to do.

If there wasn't such a significant lag between the radio and directv, I'd mute it and turn on Corey and dan

I believe there's an app for that. DicknWhoever are pretty much unlistenable, Gladden on play by play, as well. He does much better as the color guy.

I'd take pretty much anybody over Roy. Hell, I'm pretty sure I could do a better job as a commentator than him, and I wouldn't be good

I like both Smalley and Coomer more than Bert, but probably as a change of pace. Both Roy and Coom get their hitting clichés on when doing analysis. I didn't mind Smalley in studio, but after listening to him for two games, I'm not that impressed.

Coomer says some outlandish things but his random fits of giggles after every comment are annoying, TK's mundane approach to everything puts me to sleep although I do appreciate that he calls Bremer "Richard". Smalley is just awful. I pray to God they never throw Laudner out there.

I really like Bert. Not sure what you people don't like about him. He is awesome. Plus, he throws out random things about fighting and hitting guys on purpose.

Coomer's real strength lies in recreating plays in the OF pre- and post-game.

Which coincides perfectly with the times I'm not watching the broadcast.

Roy is terrible. He says something and then continues to explain what he meant. And what I mean by that is he is redundant. And, you know, my point is that he says nothing, but takes forever to say it.

And at least when Bert talks about his playing days, he is a HOFer. Roy...not so much

Kirby Puckett nailed it, in postgame interview after an infrequent Twins win in '95:

"What happened to this team? We used to have Herbie over at First Base, who's that guy over there now (referring to Coomer)? Barney Rubble?"

Everything in this post is spot on.

I'm pretty sure if you looked up the term "meathead" in the dictionary, you'd see Laudner's mug next to it.

I like Bert, but I can certainly see why some people wouldn't.

He has a few terms and or/ stories that he seems to feel the need to get in every game, if not multiple times per game.

Perhaps he doesn't realize that some people watch 150 games every year, and have now heard story/term "x" about 1000 times now.

Nailed it. Gotta keep givin' the HOFer his due props, but- like Steve Stone and Hawk Harrelson, who both at one time, oh so long ago were regarded as cutting-edge, tellin' it like it is, color guys in their own ways- ...haven't been able to update their shtick.

Does it bother anyone else like it does me... when I can "say" out loud, what Bert is about to say, well before he says it, as if we were both reading from the same script?

Meh. I don't mind it. For the most part I get his sense of humor. His baseball terms and things like that can get old, but they are at least tolerable since he seems to know most of what he talks about.

I like Smalley a lot. He knows the game and he conveys it very well. Sure he isn't as flashy or quick witted as some, but he does the broadcast justice.

It must just be my disdain for Bert but I'll take Smalley or Coomer over him any day. And TK over all of them, maybe just to hear him call Dick, "Richard."

I like Bert and Corey but Smalley is boring, Coomer is likeable but not good, and Gladden is probably the worst of the bunch. I have no doubt that if Gladden didn't have a role in two WS runs he wouldn't even get a sniff of the booth. Nothing is more annoying than, "Ball is hit. Homerun" in the same inflection as everthing else. Also, the whole self inflation of his abilities is sort of funny.

I like them all... They are all part of the team... Some are better than others but it isn't easy to fill the large amount of dead spots in a baseball game so I give them all credit.

My favorite is Tom Kelly. That man is pure baseball. He's kinda monotone but he isn't afraid to talk actual baseball.

I like TK in small doses, an inning or so at a time.

That's what she said. *rim shot* I just get so tired of Bert, I love TK and his dryness.

I think Roy Smalley would be pretty good if he (or a producer or someone) stops talking for a moment. One of the game during the road trip, he was talking about the struggles of Brian Dozier and what Brunansky was working on during warm ups and how it applies to the game, but it took about about a 1000 word to tell the story. It had no impact.

I like Bert, but it just seems like after he got into the Hall of Fame, he is going through the motions in the broadcast booth.

I noticed that too. But I enjoyed having Smalley in the booth. Maybe it was a change of pace kind of thing.

I would say the same thing about TK. I really enjoy his ability to be blunt about players and not sugar coat it. If he could just show a little more enthusiasm. He would never take the job full-time, but I enjoy it when he fills in.
