strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 My near-geriatric memory is that there always seem to be an abundance of trades announced before and after the final night of the game on the night of the trade deadline. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 ……. Or is my memory wrong?
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Well the deadline isn't until Tuesday....
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Author Posted July 29, 2023 Oops. I was reading that timer wrong!!
Irishman Verified Member Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Do you trust the FO to make any trade? I don't. I do not have any confidence in FO at all.

Not sooner, Nor later. (But remind why it is Tuesday rather than Monday? Is it they want multiple work days leading up to it, so they round it off the weekend one way or another?)

lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 They want it to be at a time where players don't get pulled mid-game. Not sure why it's a day later but it has been later the last few years as well. Oh, and the deadline is too early. Should be mid-August.
StopPuffy Provisional Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Start with DFA'ing Rocco and then the hitting coach followed closely by Gallo and then Falvey for signing Gallo (aka: Sano II). Then start trading to get something in return before losing them for nothing.
Dock Mann Provisional Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Well the way the Twins are playing now on a 5 game losing streak ...they look pathetic at the plate ...had a great 9-2 start after the break....now they are imploding again prob soon to be in 2nd place ...do we trade?...hmmmm not sure getting kinda tired of Rocco pulling his starters so soon though..and GM Derek Flavley ....could be fired after season

I don’t agree that Rocco is pulling the starters too soon.
twinkies8791 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I dont know how impactful the next trade will be but I'll be shocked if we dont do at least one more deal
twinkies8791 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 The only way I see Rocco, Falvey, Lavine leave will be if we dont make the playoffs. If we get in and get swept Rocco will be the one to go
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 OK. I really meant tonight and maybe tomorrow in my original post (No, I screwed up on reading the trade deadline clock. I think they will make a minor move and will give my wish in another thread.
clone52 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I'm on the sell bandwagon. I think they could sell and still make the playoffs. The potential to boost their system a little sounds good to me now. Trade Gray and Maeda - Most likely to replenish the farm system a little. Trade Larnach or Wallner (not both) - Find MLB ready RH bat for the OF. Lane Thomas or someone like that. Trade Gallo - if anyone wants him Trade Farmer - With Correa, Julien, Lewis, Polanco, Castro, he's kind of redundant and not mashing lefties like we'd want him to. Possibly trade Michael Taylor - If you can get something good from a team wanting speed/defense Possibly trade Donovan Solano - If you can get something good. Possibly trade Pagan - if you get something good. Otherwise don't water down the bullpen. Backfill the rotation with Keuchel, Varland and fill in with Simeon Woods-Richardson if needed. In a pinch, Dobnak hasn't been awful lately. If you have a CF problem that you need to fill, call up Kiersey. I think he's rule V eligible anyway and he's doing great in AA. At a minimum you get defense and speed. Call up Miranda to play 1B (especially if Gallo and Solano both get traded). Could probably do a 3 man rotation between Lewis, Polanco and Miranda at 1B/3B and see if Miranda can pick things up again.
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Calling up an injured player to play everyday might be a first time thing on here.

"“The Office of the Commissioner shall have the flexibility to set the Major League Trade Deadline on a date between July 28th and August 3rd.” Collective bargaining agreement. Why not Monday (since there are no day games)? Makeup games might have to have been scheduled on Monday, thereby leaving Tues afternoon as vacant so players don't get pulled.
