When I was in college a guy in my dorm showed up with one that he got over Christmas break. It cost $190, did +,-,x,÷,± and maybe √. Very cool by 1974 standards, provided you had enough batteries on hand.

When I bought it I thought those oversized numbers were gaudy. Now I think they're essential. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
