None would want to live there due to all the drugs and crime.

You do know there are more drugs and crime in the U.S., right?

I spent five weeks in Mexico recently and it was wonderful.

I love going to Chicago but there are some areas of the city to avoid. The Americas, both of them, are famous worldwide for being violent if you are in wrong place at the wrong time. At the same time there are terrific places to live and visit in every country.

The financial aspect of MLB might make it tough for some cities to thrive, just like a number of current MLB franchises. Still, it would be fun to have a few MLB teams in Latin America.

Sorry this is overblown. There are many places to travel safely in Mexico.

Is Mexico City one of those places? I don't know, just asking an honest question.

I think so. Places like Merida, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, and Queretaro are generally safe. Then the big resort areas like on the Yucitan and a big prosperous city like Puerto Vallarta would be good. Cabo. Down in Oaxaca. There are definitely some areas that you don't want to visit and I think it changes to. Plus when something does happen in an otherwise safe area, the main culprit for the victim is alcohol.

Where do you think a large portion of the drugs that make it into the USA come from? Its not coming from Canada.

Supply and demand, simple business and not much different than our cell phones arriving from China. We might not like it but that is the world we live in. Big business runs things. We watch baseball.

BTW, Kansas has a higher crime rate than the Yucatan, where millions of U. S. people go each winter.

Also, Mexicans are generally not big on using drugs.

It hasn't been about looking to turn him into a home run hitter. Nelson is a leader. That's the point.

I didn't say that was purely the purpose. Nelson Cruz is a workout machine and will know how to help a guy like Arraez add more power to his game. As I said in my previous post, I wouldn't be surprised to see Arraez hit double digit homeruns playing in that park in Miami.

We're dealing with alot of the narcotics down here, we had 2 people OD on fentanyl in a week in my town and they've stopped people in the south part of the state who come here from Texas and Arizona smuggling drugs. Like you said, its the world we live in.

Sorry to hear that. I sure wish people could walk away from the drugs and refuse violence/ stop hating and learn to love. Chill out and watch baseball.

Be true to your team, except when safety required the removal of my victorious Tarheel hat at NC State's home basketball court. My favorite story was at a Clemson football game where I was  decked out in my Tarheel regalia and I got to watch the Tigers spend a long afternoon teaching the lowly Tarheels all about how to play football. As I got up from my seat to leave, the vociferous Clemson fan who was seated behind me, loudly told me goodbye and in his southern drawl said: "Ya'll come back now, ya hear."

Thanks for these memories!

My son is a Carolina grad married to a Blue Devil. The sport they can still get riled up about is basketball. The Dookies had the bragging rights this year.

The Dookies may have this years' bragging rights, but UNC will always have Coach K's last game at Cameron (LOSS - in front of many former Devil players plus national tv ..."This is unacceptable", quoth Coach K) and Coack K's last game ever, eliminating Dook from the Final 4 (LOSS - in front of the entire college basketball nation). Have you read "Legends". It is about the rivalry between Dean Smith, Coach K. and Jim Valvano. It changed my view about Coach K a little, since he was so kind to Valvano, as he was dying, and years later, Coack K reached out to dementia suffering Dean Smith, who seemed not to recognize Coach K., but when their visit ended when Coach K. was leaving, he hugged Dean Smith, and Dean said to Coach K: "I love you, Coach".
