I'm not sure it means that. I think it might mean they are taking the salary hit. They have a lot of bodies in the secondary. Maybe a mix of "we gotta do this sometime" and "throw against the wall, see what sticks" is in the works?

I'm sure it won't happen, but it'd sure help the team both reload with players/picks AND more importantly it'd help them refocus on the future instead of chasing the past.

I don't think the NY market would let this happen. Giants fans would mock Jets fans for trading for the QB who checked down on 4th and 8.

Sure, it means that too. Frankly, other than Kirk and Hunter, looks like they are following my plan to start over in 24.

I actually wouldn’t mind it. Next year’s QB class is supposed to be excellent. I’ll take one bad year to draft either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

Yeah, I’m just happy they are choosing a path and going with it. KAM built some trust with the Wilfs and now he’s going to be able to build the roster in his vision once we get through the rough cap hits in 2023.

Right. That and the NFLPA rankings....they've built some credibility. The draft might not have done that....but it was an injury fest (and taking a first round talent in round 2, whose only there due to injuries, is a good gamble imo).

Dantzler cut is surprising since he couldn’t fetch a late rounder, but I had Cam getting moved for a 6th in my offseason guide so I’m not shocked he’s gone. PFF likes him, but he fell into Zimmer and Ed’s doghouse and likely wasn’t going to fare any better with Flores.

Folks, this isn’t a rebuild. These are typical moves for a new regime to make, I just thought they’d do more of this last year. They’re gearing up to spend $$$ on free agents and clearing out the old regime’s holdovers.

We'll see if Harrison makes it or not....They might only have 1 returning DB starter. It should be a rebuild of the D.

Moore is a #1 WR, he's just been held back by Carolina's terrible play. While Fields isn't going to solve that problem, it makes their offense harder to stop... now with Moore, Mooney, Claypool, and Kmet as weapons to throw to, the Bears offense could be pretty good if Fields can step forward as a better passer.

I dunno, that's a fantastic return for the Bears. Moore is worth a 1st on his own, so they got 3 1sts and 2 2nds for moving down 8 spots. That's a heck of a move for them.

Still, I like this because it means they’re committing to Fields, and I don’t think Fields is the answer.

And I’ve had season tickets for 20+ years. I know what a 3 win season does to my ticket prices. Worth it in the long run if they can build an actual contender.

PFT says that NFL Media is reporting that the Buccaneers are going to go after Baker Mayfield? Gross, TB going from GOAT to billy goat.

That division is just awful. Derek Carr is the best QB in division and it's not even close. The Vikings should be shopping Cousins to TB and ATL.

6-8 maybe even 9 wins a year is draft pick #ell.  Said #ell increase exponentially if you record consecutive seasons in that range.

And if I'm honest, laughing at the hijinks when the Vikings are hopelessly bad is way better for my blood pressure and mental health than getting angry when they mess up when they're teasing us with playoff hopes. I'll still watch every game in either case too.

They're almost there. Smith, Cook and Cousins and that's a pretty clean slate.  Cook seems like he's done. Smith wouldn't be the worst hold over if he can't be traded.  Cousins for one more year, ugh, I just want to be done with it, but whatever.

Of course, this news sounds like the club is considering committing to mediocrity for ever:

Hopefully that's a ploy to get trade partners to take them seriously.
